Just got home a bit ago. Finally retired after 33 years of maintenance at police dept and jail. I was overwhelmed by my co workers. I was given over $700 of power tools, $150 Home Depot gift card, $200 cash, around $400 gift cards for food or prepaid visa, a party with around 70 people that showed up through day. My wife and best friend told them not to do the surprise thing because I have a bit of social anxiety. Spent last 2 weeks getting my replacement up to speed. That is hard as I almost always worked alone unless it was a 2 man job. Probably going to take some time to decompress and not wonder what's going on. Then today I was taken for Mexican food with 2 of my favorite people then went back, turned in keys, got some handshakes and hugs and one of my friends who started at same time as me got snot all over me from crying, lol. Pretty good day.

Congratulations! So what do you plan to do now that you're all grown up?

Wonderful! My local friend was apprehensive about retiring, but after a few months when I asked him how he was handling it, he said "I was BORN to be retired!"

I have decided to put off any major updates to house until spring. Wife and I are going through basement and attic and getting rid of things weekly. 40 plus years of stuff. Mostly wife and kids, lol. Went to BJ"s today and got my 2 pair of glasses I ordered and wife shopped real quick before the holiday crowd showed up.

Funny thing, Wife was leaving a store a few weeks back when this 16 - 17 year old kid came up to her and had a white mouse in cardboard box. He said my girlfriend gave me this and my mom will kill me if I bring it home. I have not fed live rodents in probably 20 plus years.

So now Larry lives in a very posh cage with many toys, tunnels, huts and wheels and he is attached to me, his snack dealer. He loves being handed cat treats and at night a piece of swiss cheese.

LOL! Back in the day when I used to keep burmese pythons when I lived in Maryland, I was having to buy rabbits to feed them. I had two Burmese at the time. I bought this one rabbit home, separated the pythons and offered the rabbit to the first one. Hmm. Not interested. Took out the first python and put the second on in with the rabbit. That one wasn't interested in it neither. WTH? I tried that several times. Usually they will hit a rabbit like a ton of bricks! Eventually I gave up, and suddenly we had a pet rabbit. Named him Thumper. Crazy damned rabbit would run around the basement, head straight for a wall and leap up to hit it feet first and ricochet off in another direction. He used to chase Connie all over the basement and she would scream running to and fro with the rabbit at her heels. Eventually we wound up taking that crazy rabbit to Connie's mom over in Delaware and left it there. It lived there for several years along with the ducks and the chickens.
