    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Probably an extremely stupid question, but I've been there before. When I open Fauna, there's a banner that says I have to install a new 'inbox viewer' to view any new private messages. This is just spam, right? Has there been any actual change to the pm system here?

There haven't been any changes that I am aware of. You should not have to download anything to view your inbox. I vote spam
 
Where, exactly, are you seeing that message about the viewer?

Is it coming from a Google ad, pop up, part of this site, what.....?

I'm still stinging from when my server got hacked into, so if this is a sign of another intrusion, I want to stamp it out QUICKLY.
 
I can't seem to get a screen shot of it, because, well, I'm an idiot. Rich, if you log in as me and just keep refreshing the home page a few times, you'll see it.

That looks like a Google ad to me. That is obviously an advertiser using Google that just wants you to click on their banner ad. My suggestion is that if you don't want to go to that advertiser's website, don't click on their ad.

But heck, if you do, then I get a few pennies from Google. :D
