    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Incubating at 28'C... How long to hatch?

Hi guys

Anyone know how many days incubation for bearded dragons at average 28'C (83'F)? The temperature fluctuated between 27 and 29 (thus 80.6 - 84.2'F)

We incuabted at 29'C last season and the eggs hatched at 63 days average. It was the first year we used this thermostat and we lost more eggs than in the past. I thought it was the temp that went to high at stages and opted to drop it a degree Celsius this year. Now I have no idea on how long it will take the little buggers to hatch... Any ideas? It has been 69 days now and there are no signs of them hatching...

My incubator currently fluctuates between 82-85 F. (depending on where the eggs are at specifically in the incubator) and I regularly get clutches hatching at 60-65 days.
 
Hey Jacques,

Is your humidity levels remaining the same as last year? What are they? More variables to consider than just temperature.

I would guess that you will see some eggs sweating in the next 2-3 days.

As David said, check the humidity levels as well. I currently keep my eggs in soaked and drained perlite that is in small deli cups. Each deli cup has two holes (I'm guessing 1/8-1/4" each) and holds around 10-11 eggs depending on the size of the eggs. My incubator(s) also have a small water tray in the bottom to keep the overall humidity up. Even while using the same setup for each deli cup, I commonly have each deli cup's eggs hatch out on different days even though they're from the same clutch.
 
Thanks for the advice (and keeping my hopes up, its amazing how slow time goes by when you wait for eggs to hatch...) guys. The dragons started hatching today. 71 days at 27-29'C. Here is a pic of the little buggers. Two Witblits patternless out thus far, one with its head out. The other are 100% hets. Sorry for the poor quality pic but it was sent to me by phone as I am not home. Cheers

Alot of variables play into how long incubation takes , including elevation and barometric preasure. Ive had clutches hatch in as little as 45 days at 85f, but the norm for where Im at is 55 days at 85f.

And Im on the same boat as David , one of these days !
