In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi All,,,
One of the questions i get the most from people who buy dragons from me or from people who know i breed bearded dragons is :" how do you incubate eggs?"
What medium do you use..?
What incubator do you use..?
What temp to incubate at..?
Sealed box or incubation box with holes in it.?
How much humidity..?
How long does it take,,,?

So anyway,, i get these questions alot,, so i am posing the same questions to everyone out there who breeds dragons,, so maybe we can get all the anwers out there for those who would like to know what everyone uses and why,,,,
Also if you have something that does not work,, please post that also,,, as it may help someone else avoid the same pitfall,,,,

What medium do you use..? Perlite

What incubator do you use..? 12"x12"x24" Barr's cage. Zoo Med heat pad on top, controlled with a simple thermostat. Otherwise - Hovabator.

What temp to incubate at..? 84-86 degrees F

Sealed box or incubation box with holes in it.? Ventilated

How much humidity..? Don't really know... Enough to keep the eggs from denting.

How long does it take,,,? 60-70 days.

Adding this in after the fact... But out of 84 eggs, we have a 100% hatch rate. We've never had a bad egg.

Our most recent clutch was very strange. It took almost two weeks from the first egg to the last egg to hatch. It makes sense though... The eggs in the middle of the incubator hatched first, and the eggs around the sides hatched last. I'd say uneven heating.

Also, very strange... The last one to hatch from the last clutch came out of the egg shedding. Weird!

My responses to the questions,,,

I Guess i should have placed my responses also,,,:( long night last night)....

Incubation medium: I use Perlite,, Simply because it sterile,, and no mold issues like with vermiculite,,,

what incubator: I incubate lots and lots of eggs, so i built a full size 18 cubic foor incubator from a stand up freezer,,, it uses redundant thermostats,, and stays with 1 degree or so of the setpoint,,, It holds about 1500 eggs

Incubation temp: I incubate at 85- 86 degrees,,

sealed or ventilated box: My incubation boxes are sealed boxes, no holes of any kind

Humidity: The humidity in the incubator stays right at 75-80 percent,,, In the boxes have near 100 percent humidity in them,,

With the above setup my hatch rate is about 95 percent and my incubation times are right at 58 days,,, This year from all the htachlings that have already hatched,, i am sitting on 100% perfect hatch,,, also all hatch with in 24 hours, of the first,,,,
I hope this info helps the others out there who would like to see what works for everyone out there,,,
