    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

hey guys i have done some research on incubation temps and i have heard a few breeders thoughts on the sex of the snake due to temps...now i hear if you incubate low you will end up with more males and if you go higher on it there will be more females?? OR IS IT JUST AN URBAN LEGEND??any input or thoughts would be great..

I've never found anything that indicated that (snake) gender could be manipulated via temperature. Last year, I kept my incubator somewhere around 89.5 degrees, and got 70-75% males, overall. The previous year, I used the same temps, and my results varied by the clutch - with some still turning out very male heavy, while others were more equal. I don't think I'd be comfortable going over that temp to swing things toward female; in fact, I was planning on dropping temps this year - I just haven't decided if I'm going to do a consistent drop, or a night drop.

thanks harald,thats what i kinda figured.i am probably just gonna use the temps i use every year.last year incubation was at 88-89 and i did get male heavy..i guess i will have to pray to the morph god to send me heavy female clutches.haha

Nah. I don't think it's possible to influence gender of the embryo through temperature with snake eggs. Alligators and crocs, sure, but snakes? No.

From what I have read, the gender by temp. is mostly restricted to lizards, turtles and crocodilians. I have ran my incubator at 89 and 87, each temp. gave me the same results. I would just keep it around 89 to be safe.

I don't think this is true with snakes - for some lizards, yes, but never heard of it with snakes. Also, the way it works in other reptiles is that the lower the temp = longer incubation = female, higher temp = shorter incubation = male. I incubated my last clutch at 89 and got 3.4. My first clutch ever incubated at 87.5-91.5 and I got 2.2. I really don't think temp plays a role in sex with snakes :thumbsup:

:iagree:

But boy would it be nice to see the value of males rise if we could calculate sexes!
