In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Incubators...

Not to mention the disinformation! Please take all of that to another forum, preferably your own.

Yes, it is true. I had a female that had laid eggs two years in a row, a proven breeder, that developed small hemipenes and preanal pores the next season.

Not as gay as trying to breed with other males, but gay enough never to try it on a female. They would just be as calm as females are. You know how males have bad tempers over females tempers.
Enough of this garbage. Please.

The effect of incubation temperatures on sex ratio, fertility, and sexual aggressiveness in leopard geckos has been well studied. I don't believe the term 'gay' appeared once.

i'm sorry if my post above were overly sarcastic for anyone. They were not intended to be mean towards gays or anyone else. I just wanted to announce my disbeleif in gay geckos but used the wrong tone of voice. Again, i am sorry for anyone whom i have offended

gay geckos would be intresting. not very good for breeding, but still intresting. would they be sold as homo?

sold as homo?? I think we talked about this in the cornsnake chatrom one night. Not reguarding lizzards of any type, but corns.

I believe it originated with my senile butter, but drifted into sexual orientation. It ended with a bisexual male siring offspring that were then considered het for homo.

Or it was different discussion entirely.

All I can say, after being referred to this thread for a good laugh (which I got), is that I'm glad I don't breed geckos...some (and I definately DO NOT mean ALL) gecko breeders seem to wear their britches too tight.

I've got a "she-male" too. After 6+ years of laying fertile eggs, "she" grew hemipenes, started fighting with the guys, and breeding with the girls. Unfortunatly, she's now a lefty after losing a prolapsed hemipene. She never developed pores, and all the eggs she's sired have been infertile. Here're some pics I put together awhile ago. She still had both hemipenes when these were taken.

On topic, what would be the best cheap, silent thermostat to use to regulate a hovabator? I've got helix's for my racks and I love them, but I really don't want to spend another couple hundred on thermostats.

Wow. Thats prity, cool. Why many people may believe other wise, I think that homosexualism is a genetic mutation. Meaning that the creature doesn't have any choice in the matter, its just a natural fealing.
:>off_to<:
Not trying to offend anyone here, but in my step family...I have a homosexual Uncle, cousin, and brother. That is all in one step family(not my family). So I think that it is a gene that passes through generation.

Again, this is not a gay bashing post, it is mearly an idea.

I boot for Marcia, if you can't speak maturely about this matter, than don't breed geckos, because you probably couldn't get through a season professionally.

I have heard this mentioned, hot females and cold males but i never thought it was true.

Also i breed chinchillas, and i know there is a hetero biege and a homo beige. It means nothing other than that two of the genes are the same, rather than one the same and one different. Not that the chinchilla has a different sexual preference. Hetero beiges tend to be a darker color, where as the homos are lighter. The same runs true with the ebony gene in chinchillas. Except the oppossite. The hetero has grey and black hairs, where as the homos have every hair black.

Interesting about the "she-males". I have what I believe is a hot female. I bought her as a hatchling so I don't know how she was incubated. She looks to be female, and the males have always responded to her as a girl. But she refuses to be bred, and has never visibly ovulated, nor has she produced a single egg in the 3 years I've tried breeding her. But, this year I had one male decide to full-on attack her, instead of try to mate with her. Maybe she's turning into a male also? Interesting....

One of my shemale's daughters was that way. She'd go into a death roll to shake off any male that tried to grab her. I ended up giving her away.

Any thermostat ideas? I've got eggs right now and I'd like a cheap, silent thermostat to use to regulate my hovabators.

Alice, I think zoomed makes a cheap one with a external probe for about $20-$30. I dont know what everyone else's experience's are with them though. I have heard some people praise it. I'm about to get one for a incubator i'm going to make soon.

I really don't like Zoomed's UTH's and I'm not too impresed by their rheostats so I'd kind of like to try another brand, unless someone can convince me that Zoomed makes great thermostats :) Ideally I'd like to pay $50 max. I also need a kind that doesn't make any noise. I keep my incubators in the family room since it has the most stable temperatures, and everyone would be ticked if they were to hear my thermostats clicking on and off while they were watching TV or listening to music.
