    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I am looking for info on getting rid of a respitory infection. My cage is at 88-89 on the hot side and 82-83 on the cool side. She has received two antibiotic shots. It has been going on for a week now. I don't know what I am doing wrong so that she would have this problem.

Thanks in advance,
Brett

I have more to add. I have read about every book I could get my hands on, but they seem to fall short in helping me. I believe the temps are optimal. I thought boas got resp. inf. from cool temps and uranate left in the tank. If someone could help I would appreciate it. I am looking for people with real world experience.

what is her humidity... also i would bump the temps up to around 90 on the warmside

I have a big water dish in the middle of the cage. I don't know the exact humidity percentage. She always sheds in one piece.

is the enclsoure ventalated well? like i said up her temps to 90-92 and yes what kind of antibiotics? usually it take several doses over a period of time and some depnding on what is actually causing the infection need an antibiotic thats not as commonly used.

I am using the antibiotics Gentamicin. It was recommended to me by a friend. Yes, it is ventilated well. I will keep on giving her shots. I was just more curious on how she could get a resp. inf. with the temp being pretty good.

Thanks for the help,
Brett

I know this has already been stated, but i would just like to emphasize that high humidity can also be a cause of the R.I. Maybe get a humidity guage just for "yucks" and check it out. You may be surprised at how high it really is.

and you most likely need to take her to a vet to get the right medicarions... gentamiacin isnt a cure all

where did you get your antibiotics and how\where do you give the shot ive always been curious of it but took mine to the vet

I've always been a fan of Tylosin (Tylan). It is sold over the counter (it's in the fridge!) on any good store that sells farm products (Runnings, etc.). Snakes respond very well to it after 5 days of dosing (once a day). Besides, the cost is not prohibitive. As stated by others, make sure you correct any environmental problems first. Moisture, temperature and absolute cleanliness are a must.

Regards.

right on i was wondering if someone was gonna post what kind and where to get the antibiotics thanks Dan

No problem. Just let me know if when the time comes you need help with dosage and or calculating dilutions. It is administered SC so it’s very easy. You will need a small needle and syringe; the ones used for insulin work the best. You might need to buy them from a vet or online?

Take care,

I love Tylan

It works great for a number of things. I've used it for upper resp infections to belly rot on a bp I adopted. I normally dose every 3 days for 6 weeks. Some upper resp infections ccan be caused by microbials ( sp? ) which from what I understand don't react to normal meds.

I crank my hot end to 95 , replace the normal water bowl with a smaller one and drop the humidity a bit. Dosing with the tylan has sped up recovery time and for $10 a bottle ( price here ) you can't beat it .

Not to mention that a bottle with the dilution you have to use will last you for a long time (kept in the refrigerator).

Oh yeah

Lasts for quite some time. I get Tylan 50 here , still looking fot Tylan 200 and it'll last longer.

Bryon,

My concern with the 200 is that it will take too long to go through a whole bottle. I don't remember on top of my head the expiration date on the bottle. One way or the other you can't beat the price/results, even if you have to throw away what's left unused after treating just one animal. Undoubtedly the T-200 would have the advantage of having to inject ¼ of the volume of the T-50 to achieve a similar dose.

Regards

Those sites are useful Mike, and in the first one there’s your T-200 Bryon!

Regards.
