In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just recently made the switch from Chlorhexidine to F10SC Veterinary Disinfectant. I was hoping to get a couple questions answered from those that use it.

Mixing with distilled water:

With Chlorhexidine, there is a shelf life after mixing. Does anyone know how long F10SC is good for after mixing?

What are your opinions on this statement I pulled off a website?

"F10SC can be sprayed on and left to disinfect after cleaning with no need to rinse off. Unlike many other products F10 stays active providing an ongoing residual effect."

I work with Ball Pythons, Tokays, Bearded Dragon, and a Pacman frog. I most likely won't use it with the frog, but I was wondering how others feel about leaving this stuff behind for the critters to crawl in.

Using in a planted terrarium (reaction to plants and micro fauna):

I have a few terrariums that I will be using this with. Some have plants and all have springtails. Will this stuff hurt the plants and/or soil occupants?

What concentrations do you use?

Right now, I am using the 1:250 disinfectant to water.

Disinfectants need contact time to work - most people don't use them effectively, in that they just spray & wipe.
You aren't leaving the stuff for the critters to crawl in - it should be dry prior to replacing animals. Certain disinfectants - bleach, quaternary ammonia products, and chlorhexidine diacetate, for example - require rinsing afterwards, especially if there is going to be contact with food or drinking water.
I would elect not to use with amphibians if you aren't going to rinse thoroughly; and if your snakes dump their water, or you sometimes pour water in their tubs, I would consider rinsing those tubs, as well.

I think I saw something about shelf life when I was investigating the stuff, but I don't recall - if I can find it again, I'll get back to you. (I've got a bottle here that just never got around to trying :shrug01: )
