In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi Everyone,

I am curious to know if anyone has done business with a Steve Clark (turts and torts)? How did the transactions go?

How are the animals that he sales? Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thanks,

Vake Jairam

I did a search and the results were limited.

I have not dealt with him but several customers that bought turtles from me asked me if i knew him as he ripped them off for money. He is supposedly doing business out of his dorm room at college and according to several of my customers who I notified of this thread he has not sent them animals he has paid for. He also was selling alabama redbellies as pure and can ship anywhere to hawaii and alaska. Cant ship to alaska or the other 49 states. They are on the ESA and cannot be transported along state lines. Then he had same turtles on kingsnake as hybrids after being notified of this.

I just completed a good transaction with Steve Clark. He sent me a money order plus some snake hooks for my snake. He sent them when he said he would and they arrived on time. The hooks are good quality. He received his snake today and promptly let me know that it arrived safely. All in all a smooth deal............Robin

I have never bought from Steve Clark, so to be fair this is all just pure opinion on my part. I have talked to Steve Clark via IM and email and to be honest I was not at all impressed. He is a young guy, and I think that he is just caught up in a "get rich quick scheme" and reptiles are his focus. He claimed that he had pure Plymouth redbellies-Pseudemys rubriventris bangsii-which are fully protected and have been ever since this guy was born. When I asked him if he had proof he basically said "No, you'll have to take my word for it." He claimed he had a friend who was breeding bangsii, but didn't want to give out his name or any specifics. He was also selling spotted turtles and wood turtles without permits, which in his state I believe are necessary-please correct me if I am wrong however. I mentioned this to him, that selling protected native species is going to get him in trouble, and he literally said "Well I'd rather go down for selling them than some other junk." Basically, he seemed like he was almost trying to martyr himself by selling these animals. His Kingsnake ads are often very long and he tries overly hard to claim that his animals are legal. For example, he tried to claim that all the other dealers in wood turtles claim that their wood turtles are out of Ohio, and use Ohio as a scapegoat for getting WC wood turtles. He then stated that Ohio has no wood turtles and that everyone else is lying, and that HIS wood turtles are really legal ones. Well, he should have done his homework because Ohio protects ALL native species from commercial collection and the wood turtle specifically falls into that category. They are completely protected. On another note, he was constantly asking me if I had any "High-end" turtles to sell, stating that he was going to be breeding them. Now it turns out that he is "getting out of turtles and into venomous snakes". I dunno, I just get a real bad feeling about this guy personally...

about PA laws...

I'm located in PA, and him selling woods and spotteds is completely illegal, unless he can prove that they're either from out of state or are from a Captive Bred source. I'm in PA, and I've got two CB spotteds. I literally had to get paperwork stating everything about these turtles and about the parents of these turtles in order for them to be legally sold in this state(if i chose to sell offspring later on).

Collecting turtles from the wild and selling them in PA will most definately get you in trouble.

On a side note, you can catch and keep two non endangered or threatened species of native reptiles as long as you have a fishing license and don't intend to sell them.

Steve Clark Ripped me off!

Steve Clark offered two pastel eastern Box turtles for sale on KS at least 3 months ago, I contacted him, paid him $700 with paypal, and NEVER received a thing, he ignored emails and calls for weeks. I saw him post up a bunch of stuff for sale, and had a friend of mine email him to fake a buy for some Mata Matas, and to get his home address by saying they wanted to send a Money order only. My friend got his address and then told him the deal, and that we had set him up, and had to pay me back. He came up with some lame excuse, and come to find out, he never had the turtles, they were somebody else's. We made a complaint to paypal, and kingsnake, and I have emailed him many times. With no replys. He finally emailed me a couple of weeks ago to say that he had complaint against him from paypal, and that I would not get a dime from him if I did not lift my complaint with them. I told him I would not lift my complaint until I saw proof of being paid back the money he owes me; that he spent and thinks is just OK, and now acts like I am the bad guy for wanting my money back. Sheese I hate people like him, and there is not much you can do accept try and ruin his business name, and make sure nobody else gets ripped off by this jerk. I have AOL, and can always see when Steve Clark is online,Under Turtsandtorts, and Abanjableu. I Instant message him all the time, and he just sign's off or blocks me out. I IM'd him a little bit ago to tell him I was finally posting on BOI about him.I would have done it sooner. I had a whole thing written out about are dealings, and I accidently erased it just before I was going to post it. I had some time tonight to type. so here is my post, and you can tell what I think about Steve Clark. :toiletcla
