In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry- Quality First Pets (Michael Powell)

Call

To his credit he did call today and apologize about not shipping my order, explained he is short on help and offered to ship out today, but I had already placed an order from another supplier.

Maybe I will try again another time but I will definately double and triple check about actual availability of animals and a definate shipping time frame to avoid another situation.

I too had a shipment due on last Friday from Mr. Powell. It never showed, and I called his place 4 times on Friday, and a couple times on Saturday. No one ever answered the phone. After seeing this thread, I just figured I was lumped in with the rest of the folks who also did not get a shipment. This morning I arrived in my office to find a new pricelist had been faxed to me from Qualilty. I found that odd, since I had not gotten my last order. I trashed the list, and went about my day. Not too many hours later, Mr. Powell called me, and told me how sorry he was for not getting my order to me on time, offered me some nice prices to make up for it, and I am pleased to say I expect my animals to arrive tomorrow morning. I understand people having a bad day, or even a bad week, and I truely understand staffing problems. If all goes as planned, this will not be my last order from Mr. Powell. I hope everyone has a great week.

That's great that you will be finally be getting your turtles. The funny thing is that for the past two weeks, Mike has been rude and not once returned my emails or phone calls, yet on Monday, when I'm assuming he finally got HIS shipment of turtles, he turns out to be all nice and calls everyone back and apologizes. (Although when he called me back, he never apologized). I mean it's nice that he finally returned my phone call and email, but I would have much rather him return my phone call and email 2 weeks ago and let me know he didn't have turtles, but instead led me to believe he had turtles, just couldn't get around to shipping mine.

But I guess he does have turtles now and that's all that really matters. Too bad I was just so digusted by the way he treated me while he didn't have the turtles, that I canceled my order. I figure, why should I support someone who has been treating me poorly for almost 2 weeks? Instead, I am placing my order with Dale Woodruff, who, is very nice and PROMPT in replying my emails from the very start, unlike Mike.

Good experience with Michael Powell

I just purchased a couple of baby turtles from Michael Powell, an albino red eared slider and a Rio Grande ornate red ear. Both animals were securely and safely packaged. Both appear to be in good health and are doing well in their new home. Prior to shipment, Michael was courteous and attentive to my requests. I would not hesitate to purchase from him again.

I also had a good experience with Mike. He is a great guy and helped me out tremendously. Everything went smoothly. I will defintiely do business with him again.

I am thinking about purchasing a blood for Michael. I was wondering if anyone has done any more recent transactions with him to help me make my decision. i have read all of the other posts so far

Mike is a great guy and I would do business with him anytime. He is a shining light in the reptile industry as far as I am concerned.

I was wondering the same thing?
I bought 2 boas from Michael Powell aka Sunglow Serpents in Virginia back in 12/06.
Good Boas. Good deal. That was my initial purchase on my return to actively building a new collection.
Tried to get info on the bloodlines and never got a response. Mail wasn't returned either.
Have been on phone and emailing Michael Powell of Quality First Pets quite a bit. No response from him lately.
Even sent the the most recent emails to the one in Virginia by accident. No returned emails and no response.
Most recently emailed the Michael Powell in S. Texas and explained the error in sending emails to Virginia, asking the same question with no response.
Does anybody know the answer to this?

Yup, I can't say enough good things about Mike! I've placed a couple of orders for several animals and have been pleasantly surprised at the outstanding quality of all of them. The baby turtles were all gorgeous and started feeding right away and they are thriving to this day. The Ghost Honduran Milksnake I bought from him is the nicest ghost I have ever seen and at an incredibly low price!

He's a really great guy to chat with on the phone and he'll get your animals to you fast and in great condition too. I now always check his listings first when looking for a new animal and will definitely continue to buy from him from now on.

great guy to deal with super nice on the phone. I guess the only problem was that they got here to quickly. they were supposed to get here between 10 and 2. i ran to the store and found them on my porch at 9 30 but i can't blame mike for that. Thank the lord it was above 60 degrees yesterday. I like them both. i can't believe they already ate too.
