In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

We have a thread on my forums also about S and S. Your welcome to email me. I live in Houston.

S&S Houston

Hi,

I go to Houston several times a year and the last time I was there I went to S&S because I had seen their website. It wasn't a great neighborhood, definately not where you would think a store front should be. They had great prices on supplies and cages, especially if you picked them up at the store. I thought all the animals looked well cared for and I didn't see any glaring issues. I was surprised about the feeders in the bathroom. - I read the other post that was linked earlier in this thread.

They had Hedgehog food and treats there. I can't usually find any variety on for those items locally around East Texas. Their exotic mammals were amazing.

I thought the beardie and chamelon sets ups looked like they were in good shape, I don't do snakes so I saw the snakes but didn't study on their set ups. The hedgehogs looked to be in good shape with clean enclosures. The birds seemed very well cared for. We have a mini zoo around here with a severe macaw, a conure, 3 beardies, 5 mountain horned dragons, an iguana, a hedgehog, a collie, 3 cats and several aquariums - I did not see anything relating to birds, lizards or small mammals that I didn't think was appropriate.

I would do business with them again.

a friend of mine got a green tree python from them, it can shipped in a tiny box with some shredded newspaper no insulation, and it had mites, he was alright with it, if it was me i would of torn them a new one, now his collection has mites, geee wonder where those came from

The store absolutely reeks. My fiancee will not go in anymore, saying it always makes her feel like she needs to take a bath afterwords. My friend just bought a white lipped python there 3 days ago, and upon getting it home and warmed up, noticed it was bubbling at the mouth. Since they were closed Monday, he called an left a message, then they told him to bring it in Tuesday. Upon taking it to the store, he was told to "keep the heat up" and that was it. No apology, no refund, offer to help with vet costs. The sales staff will say anything for a sale. Just Say No!

They have a horrible reputation locally. I wont go in that store for fear of carrying something home to my collection. Wouldnt buy a chameleon from them if they were the only game in the country. And take a look at their so called GUARANTEE its an absolute joke. Once the animal is in your possesion its YOUR problem. Not even a live arrival guarantee unless picked up at the airport closest too you. What a crock...

I bought a GTP from them a couple of months ago, He looked good in the store, but come to find out he had a serious parasite problem. I also had a Bearded Dragon from them that died. I have to say, I will never buy an animal there again. The staff is friendly, but I can tell it is superficial to get the up sale. Plus I think they ship there feeder rodents in from somewhere, they don't breed them...that scares me.

Matt, How long ago did you buy the GTP? My buddy bought one about the same time and is taking it to the vet this weekend, maybe I should warn him. Was this when they had a whole ton of the GTP babies in the little tiny critter carriers?

About 2 months ago. I would recommend taking it to the Vet for sure. Mine was so bad it was actually pooping out large worms that I could see. My S&S days are over.

Had a friend get a rosy boa from there. When she took him to the vet, Dr. White said that that was the most parasites he had ever seen in one animal. I do know that they get in a lot of WC exotics animals, and I don't think they quarantine them. They have a bad local reputation.

my family has purchased 3 animals from them, 2 of which didnt make it longer then a week. the last purchase was at a local houston show, but totally my fault i wasnt paying attention to what table i was buying it off of, next day i woke up and checked on it (albino pacman frog) it was dead. they are a wholesale company that just moves animals as fast as they can for low prices. exacly what everybody said, they have a horrible local reputation.

I have only heard and read bad things about S&S except from the few people who seem to get lucky. I have heard about peoples snakes dyeing shortly after arrival when purchased from S&S but never DOA i believe they sell sick snakes for really cheap so if the price cut is enough to risk getting a sick snake....
