You just cant get away from kingsnake. I left KS cause all the crap going on that was getting worse. I came over here and a short time later and all i started seeing was KS this and KS that. I leave for a while, come back today, and what do i see, about 4 more KS threads with a hundred replies. I personally think all of that should be left on KS and not brought here. I've heard that mentioned several times but nobody else seems to think so for some reason. Anyway thats just my opinion and the reason that I havnt hung out here too much lately.

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I know that the KS issues have been a pain to longtime users of FC, who would like to get on with the legitimate leo conversations. I too would encourage people to keep KS issues on that forum. But at the same time the blatant censorship that is occurin over there makes this almost impossible. I personally have been watching what's going down, and can understand where many people are coming from.
I know there has been a rather large migration to this forum. But at the same time I can assure you that there are many knowledgeable and helpful people have decided to make FC their ‘home’.
I guess the point of my post is that most people are aware of the issues, and that your continuing the conversation is in no way helpful. If you don’t give a crap about KS, then don’t be involved with or read the posts concerning them. Let’s just all try drop this craziness, and to move on. Let’s all make this a great place to talk about leos. That’s what this forum is here for.

The female i was aworried about dropped one egg, outside the lay box, the mealworms got to it befor i did and one had made itself halfway in..
she's still has an egg inside and has been digging so hopfully she'll get that one out
i also finally got my huge 135gram female to accept my tang albino male, so eggs should come in 2-3 weeks

i personally feel that talking about the problems on ks here is perfectly fine. you sure as hell cant do it on thier site.
kingsnake is overpriced, not very informative in the realm of leopard geckos, hard to navigate, and really the only benefit that site has over this one is the classifieds section.
just wait. in time kingsnake will be a legend... something parents tell there kids about when expalining how nice faunaclassifieds is...

kingsnake is good becuse it has tons of printable care sheets, links to hundreds of other sites on kingsnake. and fauna is a good site becuse its free.

i agree that the classifeids seem better over at kingsnake but thats not the doing of kingsnake.com thats because everyone seems to prefer to post thier classififed ads over there.

I wonder why that is?? i meen people pay to post there- here its free, yet more people know of and use kingsnake.com. I wonder why. Kingsnake.com is much easyer to navigate, i have been useing fauna about a year and just learnd last week there was a photo gallery. and i still have no idea when and where the chats are held. this site is more focused on the BOI witch is a great thing, but doesnt draw to many people looking to do bussiness, rather just post about other people and there pets. i love the idea of this site, but the how it is right now just doesnt stand up to the kingsnake.com beast. and the hard truth is the one thing that makes this site better, is whats holding it back, and that is that it is free!!!

Back in the day... When Vince was still trying to figure out that whole potty training thing (How's that going by the way Vince? Almost there yet?) Jeff Barringer provided a place where people could interact with others even though hundreds and even thousands of miles seperated them. It was a place where you could freely express ideas, get and give information, sell a few animals and have a good time...
As it progressed, kingsnake grew larger, fatter... It was where everyone went because it was where everyone WAS... Jeff started thinking that HE created the site and built it into what it had become, rather than simply providing a space for it to exist. He alienated people, one by one... then quicker, then he got moderators to help him do so (Although he did finally dump Kaplan, what the hell was he thinking to begin with?) and the number of internet herpers grew the entire time and other sites have started their steady advance...
Some will learn from Jeff's mistakes and prosper. Others will not and will fail.
Kingsnake isn't dead yet... but it's dying. Each forum that explodes sends core participants elsewhere and leaves KS a little less worthwhile. Every price hike in the classified ads leaves a few more hobbiestbreeders not wanting to bother. Kingsnake is the biggest. So were the dinosaurs.

I love how someone hates the number of discussions about kingsnake, so in order to chastise the masses for their kingsnake discussions..... they start a new kingsnake thread.
Simple. NOT Logic.
And to throw in my two cents about Kingsnake and Fauna....
I found a snake in my classroom. I went online and started searching to find out what kind of snake it was. I found kingsnake. Reading kingsnake I decided to get myself a "big" snake (as compared to the worm sized ground snake that slithered into my classroom)... then it was three more... then... LOTS of snakes. So kingsnake started me on my way. I thought, to begin with, it was the best place. I tried other places, even an earlier incarnation of the BOI, but nothing seemed to beat Kingsnake. I even LIKED their censorship over there... .I didn't have to hear/see/read foul words.
Then one day, in the cornsnake forum, a month or so after I got my first corsnake... I saw a nice post by someone with pictures of their snakes.... each one had a sentence prefacing the photo:
"Candy Cane from Kathy Love"
and then
"Reverse Okeetee from Don at SMR"
and then
"Lavendar from [bleep]"
There were others, and I'm making up the morphs to illustrate my point.... but I laughed when I saw that post... I thought "which corn snake breeder has a name so close to a swear word, that the person typing it messed up and actually TYPED a swear word" .... then I learned that Serpenco was on the [bleep] list.
What awful horrible detestable thing was Serpenco doing??? I figured they must be frauds and charlatans and otherwise nasty people to run that site because "The Great Kingsnake" surely would not censor their name for any petty reason. Through a number of quickly-deleted-by-the-moderators posts I began to learn that the Serpenco Guy was being censored due to some difference of opinion and not because he was a scumbag. One of the frequenters of the cornsnake forum on kingsnake emailed me after her "Big Farewell" on kingsnake to tell me where she'd gone. "Cornsnakes.com"... I followed her, not abandoning kingsnake, but more out of curiousity. Cornsnakes.com didn't, at first seem like much of anything, but I enjoyed reading about cornsnakes anyway, so I stuck around. It wasn't very long before I was in the classifieds there, urged to visit the BOI by a sticky on that forum, and then found the BOI and fauna. Soon I learned the entire truth about kingsnake.com and the dispute, and found that my respect and even awe for kingsnake was down the toilet. Fauna and the other sites run by Rich became places I enjoyed being a lot more than kingsnake.
Do I still visit Kingsnake.com? You betcha. There are still some nice discussiosn that go on there. But you can bet that I do, from time to time, in my own sneaky way, help newbies to learn of the alternative sites. As quality of discussion decreases, I don't actively seek to improve that site.... I see no point.
