Hi All,
I am new to the forum and have already learned so much by browsing through the various discussions!
I had one of my Leopard tortoises euthanised last week because he was very, very ill. I asked for a post mortem to try and figure out why he got so sick and didn't respond to treatment, he had been treated with Baytril and Fortum several times with no success. The feedback is that he probably had a mycoplasma infection. I also have 7 other rescued Leopards and they have all had their share of serretia, pseudomonas and pasteurella viruses in the past, which I believe are secondary infections. They come from horrific husbandry conditions and I would like to give them a fighting chance, if it really is mycoplasma that is the primary infection. They suffer from nasal discharge every now and again, which I treat with Doxycyclene, but they eat and drink very well.
The lab suggested that I look into Tilosan, Tylan to treat them with. Could anyone help me with info on whether torts have successfully been treated with this drug?
