In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was thinking of putting some live plants in with my leos. The one i was thinking of is called Hens and Chicks...small cactus type plant without the pokies! lol. Is this ok? I just wanted to add some decor.

You have to be careful about the succulents that you choose to put in with your leo. Many are poisonous. While your leo is only likely to trample them (so you need one that is thick and strong), if a cricket or other food item chews on the plant, they can pass on the toxins. I've never heard of that particular type.

Most people don't use live plants with their leo. You're welcome to try, but it's a challenge to keep them alive.

I found out that without UV it's difficult to keep any plants alive, and its even more difficult to keep the humidty just right and all the other details. I havn't heard of that one either, but I know when I was looking for some for the day gecko's cage I simply asked the lady at the local plant shop for completely safe plants and she picked out a few.

i just posted this on another thread but what the heck.

i love the idea of live plants (tried edible plants in my old igauna enclosure) but wouldnt it be too hard to keep things sterile with a live plant? if you look into it there are all kinds of microbes and other tiny lifeforms that dwell in the soils these plants are in. and would they attract other organisms into your enclosure to feed on these or the plant itself? possibly inviting payloads of pesticides or parisites into the situation?

ive seen Marcias setup and the fake plants look great in there, way more natural and pleasing to the eye than mine. and they can be sterilized. if i were gonna, id go fake too.

I guess I am one of the very few then that have chosen to use live plants in my breeder tank. It IS a hassle, and I do have to switch them out regularly. I recommend dracaena, palms, and some others. Make sure they are pesticide free and ask your local nursery person to help you pick some that will suit you. I do not let any bugs eat them, tho.
