In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

There were 57 total texts. I was having trouble posting from a small phone and a lot of the texts are out of order. Some were also duplicated. If it is to difficult to decipher, I will either post the order in which they should be read or repost form a computer.

If no other clues where given previously, this text is the moment when a deep pause about moving forward should occur. If someone has to say "if you trust me"... well then lets lie to PayPal together and tell them it was a gift not a transaction. (good job not doing it Art)

If one uses Paypal, how does one claim to not expect the fee to be that high? If I run the math, $65 is actually less than I would have expected. $2,500 x 2.9% (PayPal posted rate) = $72.50

I've posted a link to this report on his Fauna profile since he was just here yesterday. Let's see if we can get him to chime in.

If I missed it, did the seller say that the skinny female had laid recently? If so, how long had it been since she laid, and how long does it take for monitors to get back up to proper weight after laying? OP, is the animal accepting a normal amount of prey?

I'll say that even if this amount of weight loss is normal for a laying female, it seems like the seller is admitting he knew she was underweight and did not tell the OP about it before the sale, and that's not right.

I'd also like to know if the animal is alert and acting normally, or if she is sluggish/weak.

Hello Elena. The seller said, "if anything she probably laid and I didn't know and if she did then I would not have shipped her." I don't believe that to be the case as he said, "I just starting to feed heavily to get them into cycle". Weight loss can vary after laying, but in my experience with multiple species of dwarf monitors, I have not had one look like this female. Mine were usually back up to normal weight easily within a week as they lost very little weight. She is eating, but not what would be considered a normal amount. I have seen her eat a few crickets and has taken one fuzzy. They others have taken multiple fuzzies in a feeding, and when offered crickets, they actively hunt and consume many.

She is not as alert and active as the others. She mostly has her eyes closed where ever she is in her cage. She occasionally lazily moves around the cage and stops as if she is taking a break, if that makes sense. Nothing like a active monitor exploring everything when on the move.

In post 15 the seller is saying that she used to be plump but then says something about not having time to feed her. I think if he was starving his critters he should have priced them much lower and found them homes sooner. It is in my opinion abusive to keep critters and not feed them.

Certainly a buyer should not pay for an animal shown as plump and happy, and arriving thin and inactive.

arta will you be taking this girl to a vet?

Also have you considered offering dubia roaches rather than crickets? Dubias can be contained in a shallow smooth-sided dish, so she could eat without having to expend any energy to hunt.

Yeah, sounds like more is wrong than just losing weight after laying. The OP deserves a partial refund.

I also think dubia are a good idea.

She has been to the vet and he agreed with me that she is in less than optimal condition and I am waiting for the written report.

I need to get a smooth sided bowl and will be offering more dubia.

Still no resolution. Seller has commented on paypal, but not here. This is some of what was said.

"I sold him exactly what was described and at no point in time did I express any guarantees ,Although I’m always willing to work with my customers if they are not happy"

He did not describe her as skinny and underweight with a visible spine and hips. For those that have read the texts, he did guarantee that they were all outwardly healthy. That means at first glance the body condition of the animal is that of good weight, not underweight and skinny, both of which he admits to in the texts. He has not worked with me at all. I would avoid this seller at all costs. He has no problem spinning the story to avoid doing what is right, even when the proof is there for all to see.

Sorry you're going through this Art. A seller who underfeeds his animals and sends one in poor condition, then won't make it right for you is definitely to be avoided.

He may think he's getting out of reptiles and all this won't matter....but irresponsible behavior has a way of coming back and biting the perpetrators later on.

I hope the female improves for you and that PP gets some of the funds back to you. Very glad you didn't fall for the friends and family thing when he wanted to do that!
