In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Im looking for an apartment in the UCF Orlando area but every "pet friedly" place ive been to craps their pants when i mention I have snakes. Does anybody know of any places that are ok with reptiles?

When I lived in apartments I built cabinets around all of my large cages, and bought commercial cabinets that fit my smaller cages, and locked the doors any time I left the apartment. I also unplugged all electrical cords and placed them inside the cabinet. My large cabinets looked professional and I put nice panelling over any bare wood.
This was before the days of all of the nice large rubbermaid storage cabinets that are now commercially available.
I am not advising anyone to violate any laws or lease terms. I am merely reporting that I never had any problems after 30 years of apartment living in at least a six different apartment buildings, with at least 50 different medium-sized snakes, lizards, and tortoises. I also always lived in places that allowed dogs and cats, and also owned a dog and cat at the time. Anytime a landlord needed to come in, I always insisted that I be warned in advance so I can lock my dog and cat in the spare (reptile) room, since they may not be freindly to strangers. If one does not desire a dog, the same excuse can be used for any other allowed pet that can bite- ferret, parrot etc.

I currently live in an apartment that doesn't allow reptiles. Before we moved in, we asked several people if snakes were allowed. No one could give me a definite answer and never called me back. (it's a very large building in downtown chicago, most of the staff have no idea whats going on.) Finally upon signing the lease I read somewhere in fine print no reptiles were allowed. Of course I brought them anyways. Haven't had any problems because they always give 24 hour notice when entering my apartment. When they do my 4 foot by 2 foot repti-racks cage gets a sheet thrown over the top and a laptop put on top to make it look like a desk. But I would never do this without a back up plan in case I do get caught. My sister is a herpetologist that lives 2 hours away, that would be more than willing to take my snakes if I needed her to. Not saying you should try to hide them, I wish I could have found a building where I didn't have too but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm thinking of modifying a small bookcase type thing into like a split level type terrarium so the cages wouldn't stand out so much. I just find it hard to believe that for a nominal fee i could have a dog that barks and craps everywhere but I cant have a snake that stays in a locking tank all day.
