    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

This guy's advertising Mack Snow x RW albino and MS x Double Het PA for $750-950.

This is great, but I wonder if this guy is an 'approved' seller :raspberry

Really, I agree with the posts the other day. This is probably one of the best things to happen to Leos since I got into them. Well, the first Albinos were a big thing...and so were the Hine-line Hypos, and the Blizzards, and a few others, but this is the biggest. I can't wait til next year to see what these snow albinos and such will look like.

Oh wait, I just found this one, as well - $1650 for a pair

I saw both of those today... I dont think the people Mack sold to before Alex were asked a price to sell at.

Interesting though, I'd like some to play with. I would rather invest my money in Aussie geckos who will hold their value more so than leos.

High end geckos have a very limited customer base. With something like a co-dom snow, most of the individuals in that bracket aren't going to need more than one or two to start with. If they breed their co-dom, with a ton of females they're going to have ton of co-doms. This year a lot will be held back, I imagine, to produce supers. Once people start working with the supers and producing 100% co-doms, they're going to have to drop the prices to move them or limit production to keep prices up.

Like I've said before, I think that the mack snow gene has loads of potential. It will be the cutting edge mack morphs, however, that will maintain their high values, not the run of the mill co-doms and supers.

When supers hit $300, I may even jump in :dgrin:

It is my understanding that only Albey and Steve of geckosetc bought from Mack before Alex....

I saw the pair, but not the other add. I just tried to view it and it looks like it was swiftly removed, or the link was wrong.

BTW, told you there was no price fixing :p

Anyone can choose to sell them for what they feel they are worth, there are no conspiracies. I'd like to see those who said so publicly eat some "humble pie"

I'll anxiously await this :)

Nice to see more macks popping up here and there :)

Actually there was another thread about someone selling some of them, and it seemed he caught some flack for "selling them to early", so to speak. If my memory serves correctly, Alex even lumped him into a certain catagory (unethical? I forget)with another who has mack's. Maybe I took his comments wrong, anyway, even though there may be no actual conspiracy, seems that there is a lot of cr@p given. Wouldn't surprise me if that was a factor in the pulling of the ad, if it was indeed pulled. I wasn't one of the conspiracy theorists, but like many in the other recent thread feel this is getting old, and there does seem to be a jumping on mentality. At any rate IMHO only, still seems a little early to expect eating of any kind of pie, given it hasn't been that long since the posting of "ugly" threads.

Wouldn't surprise me if the reason the ad was pulled is because the geckos sold immediately and the poor guy was still being flooded with emails from other hopeful buyers.

The co doms really dont look like anything. This isnt unlike the regular comment I usually make but bare with me. They seem to look like high yellows, is anyone worried about counterfeit co-dom macks? is there something specific to look for in a co-dom mack snow?

I'm with John on this one. There was a very specific accusation directed towards Jodi and Alex in that recent thread which was never addressed, as far as I remember. Were these guys who are now selling a part of the group that bought from Alex? If not, then this has nothing to do with the previous 'price fixing' accusations, since these guys weren't part of that Group of Eight, or Ten, or whatever it was.

maybe its a ploy , to make sure more price fixing accusations aren't brought up ? Has anyone heard of razor back reptiles before this? Maybe its someone who doent want others to know they have macks.

That is ridiculous. I know Stan or "from the gecko" very well. Give it a rest, there are websites for you to post on if you are into conspiracy theories. Stan could care what everyone else sells their animals for. He will sell and price his as he sees fit! The story on razorback reptiles has been known for a few weeks now.

Good lord these mack snow threads are just getting rediculous... If you all know notice I avoid posting on them as much as possible, although I have kept myself current on the activity of these threads.

All we're doing is making sure that the reptile industry is never truely accepted. We should be spending our time working with our animals and a little less time wondering what everyone else is doing... or how about a "Leopard Gecko Industry Advancement Association" would could help educate the country? Surely that would have to be a better investment of time then complaining or guessing or accusing or continuing to shoot ourselves in both feet. And yet we wonder why people from other forums think we're all a clique.

People need to stop taking everything personally, stop contributing only negative comments, and start to focus on what we can do with the animals we've all come to love so much. Or maybe that is lost upon some of us? Stop this internal bickering, we've already broken enough friendships and business relationships. We've also lost people from this forum that I consider to be valuable due to this subject, how much more do we have to hurt ourselves before we get over it? The past is done and gone and there's nothing that anyone can do about it now.

I urge all of you: take the high road, stop all this BS, and let's get back to doing what we love: working with Leopard Geckos.

This will be my first and last post regarding the negativity surrounding this subject. Hopefully I can help lead by example and you all will do the same.

Edit: After thinking about it some, this isn't really the thread that started my line of thought, so this isn't really the best place for it (we all know which thread would be), but I'm leaving it here for now. I just thought I'd mention that before someone tells me this thread isn't that bad.

Ditto!

I actually called Stan yesterday. Although I have never met him or heard of him he seemed to be on the up and up. He stated what he would have available and where he got his animals from. Might be working out a payment plan with him for a snow!

Of course scammers are going to try to sell counterfeit co-com mack snows, fake hets being an old old game in the herp world. You have to trust your source if you're buying hets.

I believe it poops gold nuggets.

That's cool, Chad. Let us know how it turns out and post pics when you get them.

I'm sure you're right and someone will try to pass off fake ones. Hopefully prospective customers demand to see pics of the parents as well as baby pics. From the pics of babies everyone has shown on here, they definitely look different. Luckily, with these, are there any real hets that look normal? I know the snows look somewhat normal as they age, but don't they all hatch pretty much black and white?

I read on an earlier thread that someone let the cat out of the bag on the golden nugget-pooping geckos...they're really rare and only a handful of select breeders have them...perhaps I'm one of them. Don't dare talk smack about them or I will smash your rep.

My neighbor is in the actual gold bar production phase right now . . .
