In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Cathy,
NO!!!!!!!!!!

If money was STOLEN from you and a friend or anyone else gave that amount of money back to you would you accept what happened to you and just "move on"?? I doubt it.
YOU WOULD WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS PERSON DID NOT GET AWAY WITH IT AND DO THE SAME THING TO SOMEONE ELSE.

Please, will you people please stop saying "just move on, recoup your costs, accept the loss" and all that other garbage?

Peter was shipped an item other than what he ordered. He wants his money back. Melvin will not give the money back. MELVIN MUST NOT GET AWAY with what I consider theft, which is a criminal act.
Do we prosecute for crimes.....or do we just let it go?
This makes me sick. :ack2:

So what more do you suggest Peter do? How does one "make sure he doesn't get away with it"? Peter brought it here and warned others. Its obvious from the seller's responses that he has no intentions of given him a refund. Chalk it up to lesson learned AND MOVE ON. No court is going to prosecute this.

Bart,
I agree that the BOI has served it's purpose with this issue........this will be here to forever warn others of Melvin.
However, I don't think Peter will let Melvin off the hook. As he previously stated, he has only just started with him.
What would I suggest......you ask?
Well, if this happened to me:
1) Be done here with this thread
2) continue with the emails to Melvin
3) attempt to locate his place of employment
4) continue calling him/try to find his number

Basically, treat it as an attempt to collect a debt, but stopping short of harassment and stalking.
Anyone who's had a debt collector (credit card company, etc) calling them, knows how annoying this can be.

I, however, don't care about making any snake into a dollar value so it (the situation) is worth more to me as a way to stick it to Melvin Efrece for pulling one over on me.
Yes, all you can think of is your wounded ego and how to "stick it to him". Grudges are emotional poison. It must really suck to be you jolles.

Jim,
Why do you keep twisting things around? You take Peter's words and create a meaning that does not exist. That's exactly what my wife does. Geezz.
Anyway, The way I see it is.....Peter is simply trying to right a wrong. I think what you're doing is a personal attack on Mr. Jolles.

Jim- Do you let people walk all over you? I'm talking about in real life.....not here where people can hide behind a monitor. I will assume that your answer is NO. Then why would you want Peter to let Melvin get away with this? I don't think there's a bruised ego involved here. Melvin fired a BB gun at Peter and Peter will most likely hit him back with a Hellfire missile.

What would you do Jim......if someone ripped you off? Would you drop your head and say "hey, don't worry about it" or would you keep your head up and say "HEY!! WTF!!! I DON'T THINK SO. YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME". Well, if you respond this way, that's not a response to a bruised ego, that is you not letting someone take ADVANTAGE of you.
I think everyone here would stand up for themselves.......and I think that is what Peter is doing.

I think we all can agree on #1; however, #2 through #4 constitutes harassment. Peter is not a collections agency and does not have the same privileges because he is not owed a debt in the eyes of the law. A small claims court could change that but if that should happen, a collections agency steps in.

Also, to suggest #2 through #4, is to admit it is about the money, which Peter has already stated that it no longer is. If the money is the issue than what Cathy suggested (as well as others) is a reasonable resolution – sell it to someone else and recoup the funds. To pass on that option and still proceed with #2 through #4 could be viewed as stalking, especially when you consider intent.

In regards to your previous example, if someone steals money from you, you contact the authorities and move on. You do not take it upon yourself to get it back. However, since a clear crime has not been committed, your example is irrelevant to this situation. If the crime of fraud was committed (not suggesting it was or wasn’t), it’s the courts responsibility to sort it out. File a complaint and move on.

What is interesting to me is Jim O's comments towards this situation have appeared to be sound, IMO. Peter appears to be taking offense to them only because there coming from him.

Bart --

"Making sure he does not get away with it" means that I will embarrass and shame him on this BOI --- and I think I have done that. He can say he is out of the hobby - whatever! I have been fascinated with snakes since I could walk and I bet he (Melvin Efrece - Reddawg43) has as well. He will be back.

I bet that Melvin Efrece has been monitoring this thread - and I bet his friends have as well. I laid out a "slam dunk" against him - maybe not for a bunch of lawyers in a court of law --- but the case I presented against him in post #1 of this thread surely proves him guilty.

His only defense, as I see it, is for him to say it is not the same snake. If he did that well then I would ask ks.com to pull the picture off of their hard drive back up.

Finally, Jim_O's suggestions make sense for someone that is merely interested in recouping money from this and not in making it right. Actually, it is a pretty selfish suggestion because it leaves Efrece out there to do this to more people - possibly people that read this BOI. I never came here looking for justice for me. I came here to put some justice on Melvin Efrece. I think I have stated that time and time again, in different ways, in this thread.

Anyway - thanks for the deep thoughts on this thread -

See ya,

Peter Jolles

Jim's suggestions make sense because recouping the funds is all that can be done at this point. Nothing will "make it right" other than the seller offering the refund and we all know that isn't going to happen. You have brought this here and shamed him in the eye's of this community. Another hundred posts on this thread isn't going to shame him any further and still won't make it right. I think that is the point of saying "move on". It was not meant to imply that anyone is letting him get away with it as suggested by Tomsey.
