    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Heres the story. I purchased a 100% Het. Pied Ball Python Male on Feb. 7 of this year from Shane Congdon In Ct. The snake is supposed to have been bred by this guy Mitchell in Texas who is supposed to be sending paperwork verifying genetics. I have Mitchel's phone # and I tried calling quite a few times but only get voice mail. I never rec'd. a return call from Mitchell and now Shane Congdon is telling me he has reason to believe something has happened to Mitchell and chances are I won't get any paperwork from him. Has anyone gotten Ball Python hets. from Mitchell or elsewhere and were told Mitchell was the breeder ? I want to sell this ball python but all of my inquiries are asking for paperwork that I can't provide. What should I do from here ? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.........Thanks, Joe

Go to http://www.searchbug.com/peoplefinder/peoplebyphone1.aspx
& see who phone number belongs to. That would be a start. I would also try calling & blocking your phone number (*67) & see if somebody answers. Sounds like he's passing the buck or just used someone elses name in deal to get your money..I would go back to Shane & get your money back, you bought from him & if he can't get you paperwork he should return your money.
 
have any idea where in texas he was from? if you know a location, i may be able to help you as i know someone named mitchell who was selling hets a while back..
 
if you have his phone # can you post the area code, that will help pinpoint his location in Texas

The area code is (806) I believe its a cell phone #. As far as Shane Congdon in Ct. He has said he feels bad and wants to do right by me. He has no other het. pieds and offered to take the snake and breed him to prove him out. ( That will take several years ) I asked for a refund but he said money is tight and can't do it right now.......Joe
 
IF he sold you the python and told you it would come with paperwork, he needs to refund your money. Wether times are tight or not, work out a payment program with him to get your money back, and let him prove it out on his own. You should not have to deal with the person he bought it from.

I've seen ads for 100% het pieds with no paperwork being offered at a discounted price. Did the ad state the python was sold with paperwork? If that was what was agreed upon then he has to send you the documentation.

I would assume he has straight pieds though because if not, how is he planning to prove him out if he has no heteros?

806 area code covers lubbock amarillo and pretty much the whole panhandle. I am pretty sure i know who you are talking about. Mitchell Perky right...
If this is the same guy, contact me thru Pm and i can give you more details, this is not the place to go into details about this situation.. at least on my end.

I agree 100% with Tom on this one. This guy needs to man up and refund your money. Im sure he has some animals he can sell, even if they were holdbacks or whatever. But I also wouldnt give up on Mitchell either. For the record, I believe we are ALL entitled to the info on this guy. No matter what the circumstances are. I understand that Snakebyt may not want to be the one to break the story, but someone should.
 
Mitchell Perkey has been a good customer of ours since late 2002, he had always been upfront with us and stood behind every word he told us... I spoke to him numerous times and I never once felt that he would be one to scam anyone and I have a good sense of gauging people of that nature... I do not have any personal knowledge of his breeding projects, nor do I usually buy hets. But I would have believed him if he said he produced some... Unfortunately this is all Past tense, on Monday Mitchell father informed me that in late April Mitchell took his own life... For reasons only clear to him, he decided to take this action after a few personal problems... It is a sad thing and much of a surprise to me and a lot of those who knew him better... even up until the day before all who saw him claimed he appeared to be ok.... The reptile community has lost one of its own, a person who could have become in time a valued and well known member which this industry could use more of!!!

Thank you Alfredo, I for one will miss hanngin out with him from time to time. He was a good guy who always loved to talk herps with anyone who was willing. Yes, he will be truly missed.

For the record Shane Congdon has been a straight forward guy from the begining. I have been in contact with him since the purchase and he wants to do right by me. He has offered me several snakes to trade back the Ball for but I am reducing my collection and don't really want another snake. I believe Shane when he says he wants things to be right and we will hopefully work this out. I just want this to be clear that Shane has answered every e-mail and phone call and is determined to see this through to hopefully a happy ending for all.........Thanks for all the replys ....Joe
 
DAMN! That wasnt exactly what I was expecting to hear.

Snakebyt, I fully understand your reasoning for keeping that to yourself. It makes you wonder what was going on that could have been so bad. My condolences to his friends and family.
 
I dont want to give out any misinformation about the situation, but he told me he was going thru a divorce, and i think that had alot to do with it. What is odd is that the day before, he was at the bar i work at and we talked a bit, he seemed a little bummed, but overall he was in good spirits and having a good time..
I never saw anything coming.. was a great shock when i found out.

Thoughts and Prayers go out to his family...

I bought some het albino balls from Mitch last year. He sent me paperwork that he had typed up and signed and swore these were true hets. One of the females laid eggs for me so there is a possibility that I may find out. But either way, Mitch was a very nice guy and straight forward with me. I had even planned on going down there with work and possibly visiting with him and his snakes. I had just emailed him the other day to give him news about the gravid female. His father emailed me back and told me the horrific news.

Whether or not these turn out to be hets really isn't all that important. It's just extremely sad to see someone take his own life while still so young. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mitch and his family.
