    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was trying to find the answer to whether Colombian and Central motleys are compatible. I've only found a single breeding posted anywhere, and the litter was small, without a super, so couldn't prove it either way... So does anyone know whether this was further investigated?
 
I wouldn't think so, I wouldn't breed for super motley anyways knowing they're almost always doomed from birth

Well, the CA supers appear to be a pretty strong animal, with female supers producing litters, and males siring litters.

If they are compatible, it would be a way to make more outcrossed and robust animals. Not to mention the stronger pattern retention within Colombians benefiting from the better coloring from the Centrals.

Do you have a cite for that? My understanding is that every super motley produced has been a slithering train wreck, CA or not.
 
That is an interesting read. I would have to have more referenced litters of CA supers to believe that wasn't a fluke or some other morph involved.

It would be great to see more evidence one way or another. Unfortunately many people hide failures, or at the minimum don't go out of their way to share results with the community. Combine that with an assumed bad outcome (whether rightly so or not) few if any attempt now.

May end up being something I'll have to address myself eventually. If it is I'll definitely share results good/bad/ugly.

The dam was a 2007 CA super motley Het T+, sire was a hypo het T+ albino. She had six babies, four were stillborn, two lived, not what I would call a strong litter.

Even for a CA she is tiny for five years old - the problem with super motleys seems related to size rather than age. You'd have to practically maintenance feed a female to get it to breeding age.

Personally if I want a black boa I'll get an IMG.
 
I'll have an IMG one day.

I find the write up interesting, but not conclusive evidence that ca super mots are defect free.

I personally don't own any motleys, but I wouldn't take the risk if I did.

Yeah, that's far from a strong litter, I hadn't seen that information for her. Thanks for sharing it.

That would be quite a problem, and reason to avoid breeding for supers, let alone plan to attempt using a super in a project.
 
I know the Colombian motley is far more than just size issues. Most die by age 2, they can have seizures and display almost ibd symptoms, usually deformed (one I saw I had to be told it was a boa, I couldn't recognize it as one), it's just not something I'd ever try for.

And maybe it was that 2007 CA motley that jersey stone went off on me about saying there was proof super motleys can live and breed. Someone asked a similar question to this in a group and I answered pretty much the same, saying not to try it and giving a list of the issues I knew about and he targeted me and went on a very childish rant and attacked me apparently because he was the originator of the super motley? He said "but don't tax the good look of a super motley even if they don't like that long" never liked him to begin with.
 
Jeremy* don't know why my autocorrect changed that. But I have the screen shots to prove what I said too, if anyone wants that or if it's "needed" with the claim I made.
