In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have a pair of of 03' Motley Sunglows. They are also clutch mates. The male looks like what I would expect a Motley Sunglow to look very bright orange. The female is nothing like I would picture. She is a Motley/Stripe with very deep red coloration. In fact she almost appears to have a blue/lavender cast over the red. Her head markings are also gray/white in color. Lastly she is very small, only 14"-15". My question is do you think she is a Motley Sunglow or is there something else possibly going on here?

Sorry the pic is not very good. I still have not figured out how to photograph them :bandhead0 I am so envious of all the great pics on here. Share you photography secrets

definately not a sunglow but still very cool.

if you decide you don't want to keep her drop me a line

Definately a sweet looking snake there...Would imagine you'd get a real neat variety of amel motleys, from sunglows to the deeper red motley stripes, if you breed these two together...Niiiice

What is she then?

Ok if she is not a Sunglow then what is she? Also why would she not be a Sunglow? I thought a Sunglow was any Amel lacking white. Sorry for the questions but I am really trying to understand this morph as I think it looks so nice.

Thanks,
Jeff C.

I am FAR from an expert on the various morphs of cornsnakes but I thought that sunglows were orange and orange and various shades of orange. Perhaps a bit of white in there too but not much.

The snake pictured is VERY nice and I'm interested in clutchmates if she's not for sale herself.

Not For Sale Sorry

Sorry but she is my 4 year old daughter's snake and she would kill me if I even thought about selling here. I just have the 2 and the person I bought them from does not have any others. As far as I know he is not going to breed the pair this year as the female did not put on weight after breeding last year. If I can get some size on her I might try breeding her to her brother next year but most likely it won't be untill 2006 as she is very small for an '03.

Thanks,
Jeff C.

Jeff,
From what I've gather from pics and conversations online and at shows the motley gene is a variable one...When you get motleys in a clutch they can all vary in look...plus the motley and stripes genes seem to be closely related, which is why your female has a striped look...your male got the sunglow motley look, which would represent the "best" of a motley sunglow clutch, and your female, whie carrying the same genes, got a much different look, probably due to the motleys variable tendency...I am NO WAY the expert, especially when it comes to Motley genes...keep asking around and do some digging on motley corns...Enjoy, it's not like doing homework, i swear...

I have eggs due to hatch soon from a Motley Sunglow x Motley Sunglow pairing. I'll try to post pictures once they're all here. From what I understand, you can get a range from them, including snows. Your daughter's girl is very pretty but it worries me that she's so small for being an 03.

Thank you ahead of time for posting the pics. I am not sure how one would get snows from them unless the parents are het Anerythristic.

I am not all that worried about her size as she is healthy in all other respects (that and I am still trying to find a reliable way to measure them lol). It was, however, her deep red coloration combined with her small size that made me wonder if she might have some Bloodred or Rosy/Keys in her. I have bred both of these and know that they tend to be smaller on average.

Thanks,
Jeff C.

As I posted on the other site wherein you were asking about her, she is an amel motley that may, or may not be a sunglow motley. If she has little to no white on her, as MOST amel motlies can be found, then yes, she is a sunglow motley. She will lighten in her coloration as she ages (become more orange), and her head coloration will fill in.

I highly doubt that she has any bloodred in her, unless it is accidental in nature. There are no confirmed bloodred motlies of which I am aware, and I kept all the F1s I produced last year, as did everyone else I know who produced them.

She's a nice snake!

Ok...I have 3 hatched and 2 more pipped. So far, the first one is very motley, circles all the way down the back. The second is a full stripe but the third is part motley and part stripe. All 3 of these are very "pink" looking right now.

I'll keep charging batteries and take pictures of the parents and the babies tomorrow. ;)

Sybella,

Thanks for the update. I can't wait to see the pics. Here are a couple of updated pics of both Pumpkin and Spitfire her brother.

This is Pumpkin:

Ok...these aren't the best. It's the middle of the night and all. LOL!!

The two females and the male look pretty much identical. Here's the proud papa, who is a little dark because he's due for another shed soon. He has a VERY full tummy. :)

And, here are the babies thus far. The first one is a full motley, next a full stripe, then a partial stripe.
