Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Moving to Germany-How do I bring python with me?

Hi all,

I'm going to be moving to Germany at the end of this year for a job, and I want to bring my ball python with me.

Anyone know how to do this? All regulations I've seen focus on "furry" animals, almost nothing mentions reptiles.

I'm not sure if this applies to all airlines, but Southwest allows transport of live seafood if it's considered to be a food item. Soooo...you could maybe argue that you like to drink fresh snake blood and don't have a source across seas?

That would be my argument anyway, but I'm kind of a pain in the rear :p. How is it ok to take a dog or cat with you but not a snake that's just going to sit there curled up in a ball? Samuel Jackson ruined it for everybody.
 
You will need to find a breeder that does export and that can take care of all the paperwork for you (C.I.T.E.S, health certificate etc).

Between the paperwork and shipping it should run you between $500 to $1000

Mike Wilbanks of Constrictors Unlimited does exports; You may ask him what the procedure is. I think he does the Hamm show in Germany on a regular basis.
 
That's sort of dumb that you can't just put them in a closed pet carrier and take it on the plane like with small dogs.....
 
It's listed as CITES Appendix II, so you'll need a CITES permit to start with. I'd contact a German reptile trader and ask them how to go about it. (as Deborah said earlier)
