    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This little guy/girl hatched today. She' a RAPTOR X Jungle Giant Albino. What sucks is that the clutch mate died in the egg........ it also had solid red eyes! I guess the Jungle Giant Albino mom is Het for RAPTOR. I was very excited to find this out!

Matt, very nice. Now the question is will it hold the reverse stripe or hypo out? Let us know which way it goes.
 
Very nice Matt...what a great suprise about the mom being het RAPTOR also. Bet you can't wait for the next batch of eggs to hatch!
 
Very nice Matt, I know you're thinking the female must be a het but I'm curious if the RAPTOR line isn't a simple recessive.

Dont' want to hi-jack your thread Matt...but I'm also curious about the red-eye trait. It seems like there are a lot of black-eyes/snake-eyes/and red-eyes appearing in projects where they weren't expected. I'd heard that the eclipse and raptor eyes only appeared on animals carrying the stripe x reverse stripe genes but that's not proving true either. It will be interesting to watch all this work out...

Yeah, I know my blizzards have partial snake eyes/marbled.... I'm breeding them to my bell males this season and am curious to see if this trait exhibits itself in the hets or the het offspring
 
Thanks Guys, yeah I'm not quite sure what the Raptor gene is. The little one that didn't hatch was also a reverse stripe.......... The dad was a solid Raptor with snake eyes and the mom was a jungle giant, so it's kind of cool that both babies where reverse stripes??? Yes, I can't wait for the next batch to hatch!

Interesting, and nice looking baby! How long have you had the mother?

I do not believe this is a recessive trait, I have spoke with another breeder who hatched Eclipse from an APTOR bred to a Hybino mother, and it was pretty much unrelated to Rons stock. Then just look at how many people got lucky, from breeding the original APTORs and Hets.

It has something more to do with pattern, thats my story, and Im sticking to it. LOL Ill have eggs from APTOR Het RAPTOR X (Red Stripe X Reverse Stripe Albino) very soon, so we will see.

Im not sure who is saying they come from Stripe X Reverse Stripe, I know I have stated that "Patternless" is likely to come from that cross, but even that has not been proven yet. They definately do appear to be the same.
 
Do you guys think there are separate genes at work? In other words, the pattern genes that produce "patternless" (let's say it is stripe x reverse stripe) may not be exactly related to the eye gene that cause solid and snake eyes...just two set (or more) or combined traits and genes that sometimes produce patternless animals with solid red eyes. Solid black eyes are popping up in very normal patterned animals as well as blizzards. Eventually someone will cross an eclipse (or raptor) with a super snow and ?? who knows what the eyes will look like? I think Alberto already has double hets...
 
Yea, I would personally LOVE to see a Snake Eyed Super Snow!

Ron does mention, he hasnt produced Bandeds or Jungles w/ Red (or black)Eyes, but I have hatched a Jungle, so it doesnt make too much sence at this point.

Alberto is probably further along with his Red Stripe X Reverse Stripe Albino project than I am, but it was both his idea, and Rons that it is linked to pattern somehow. It just makes the most sence to me right now, having seen others results with the APTORs and RAPTORs.

I think alot of Blizzards have eyes like that, and it is not something new as far as Blizzies go.

I do have a couple of Normals, that have 'Snake Eyes', but they are from Mack crosses, and also have bad eyelids. Not sure if these ones eyes are just deformed, or if it came from the Macks. I wish I could tell! :ack2:

Hey Dan,
In your previous post you said someone produced a eclipse from hybino x aptor house does a albino x albino make non albino?
 
My fault, that should have said RAPTOR unless it was a SHTCT Het Albino, it was awhile ago, so I might be 'fuzzy' on some of the details. I didnt see it for myself, just took the mans word for it. :)
