This might be more of a behavior topic. I make platforms out of the plastic cut outs left after cutting "windows" into the large plastic tubs. I put them on the warm end and drape the opening with pieces of plastic drawer liner.
My snakes seem to love these platforms! They are on them and under them several times a day. Sometimes they just poke a head out from under the drape and just watch. Each platform has a notch cut into the back edge so they can get on top without coming to the front. This is what they use most often to go from underneath to the top. This furnishing is popular with all my kingsnakes and cornsnakes.
The picture is of a 1.0 yearling reverse stripe albino banana king. Ganesh. Since I put the platform in Ganesh has been significantly more active. He doesn't just go into a hide and stay there.
