    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

This post is on behalf of a good friend of mine that is having trouble that I am afraid I am not able to help him much with. This post is originally from another small forum that I am a part of but either way, here is his original post:

My 3rd baby leo has some development problems. I dont know about anything internally, but but I do know that he hatched without his egg yolk, which made him very skinny. He also has tiny TINY eyes (if he has em at all) he may open them completely, but I doubt it. I think I might have a blind baby. . . .

I adore him anyway! He kinda strange looking with his eyes, but I like im anyway! :D

The baby seems to be able to walk, however when scared he will run in circles slightly and seem a bit confused, perhaps because of the eyes.
Is there anything further that can be done to ensure that this baby will survive? should it get fed? we have the slurry ingredients to do so... thanks everyone for your help
 
I sure do not see normal eyes on that leo. I hate to say it but I would put that one down. because even if there are eyes there I see no eye lids at all. it's sad but it happens.
 
As long as the baby has functional eyelids, I would say giving him a chance is fine. I'd use a dropper and give him water to make sure he's hydrated. Give him two or three days and offer him a gutted cricket or mealworm (hold it and let him lick the guts), if he takes it, I'd keep feeding him in this manner. If he doesn't take it, I'd start the slurry. With babies that don't absorb their yolk, the key to getting them to pull through is to make sure that they stay hydrated and start eating ASAP. If he won't lick the slurry, becomes lethargic, or can't move properly on his own there may be more things wrong than the eyes, and you'd need to evaluate what kind of quality of life he'd have.

thanks for the reply everyone. As far as I know the gecko is still alive, he did lick the mealie guts and is pretty good about things...

He is thinking of keeping it and is aware that it will be a high maintenance gecko...thanks again for the help
 
I am not the expert here so I am posting this as a question. I read an article about a Ball Python that was born with no or little yolk, and it had a fused together middle. It is still living! The guy writing the article said he tube feed it chicken egg yolk. Can this be done for Leopard Geckos also??
 
The little guy died this morning. Thank you all for your help. a necropsy was done, turns out the little guy had no eyes whatsoever, and somewhat of a bad heart. He also had an unknown fat deposit close to his liver.

The hatchling's clutchmate also hatched a day after this one. This new guy seems to have absorbed his yolk, but also has trouble with his eyes, although I think this one actually has eyes, just shut. He is 2 days old now. I am unaware of what the plan for him is.
