    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey fellas...my perfectly healthy, awesome looking leo is acting a bit strange today. I have observed him licking his vent area and a bit of web browsing suggested it might be a swollen hemipenis...I know for sure it isn't prolapse he's been doing it for about 1 day, this being the second and my unfortunate experiences with Chameleons tell me this ain't no prolapse...or at least I hope it won't be...I need tips and assistance on what to do with him as he seems perfectly fine and alert as always...I also saw the hemipenile bumps like..."pulstating" if you will...they looked like they were swelling...he was also licking the area as I said...any idea what I should do since there are no signs of blood or grossly abnormal signs. Also he is a sexually mature male who I've had for over 4 years and he has never been with anything other gecko so could it be semen build up? Thanks for any help you can give!

I'm no expert but the way you describe it, it could be that he is sexual frustrated, I had it happened to me once and then once i introduced him to a couple of females to his tank he seemed to be fine after that and not once had a problem again. If it does continue i would suggest take him to a exotic vet and see what they say.

The original post here is 3 years old, but it does sound like a swollen hemipenis or potential prolapse. I would dab some sugar water on it and see if it helps.

Uh...without a picture, i would think that Leo is "amusing" himself.

I have a couple of frustrated crestie guys who do the same thing in the off-season.

Give him a copy of PlayGecko and tell him to confine that behavior to his hide.

And for the love of God-get him a girlfriend!!

Although this post is ancient...

He's probably just cleaning himself. I don't believe reptiles are capable of sexual frustration.

I wouldn't be too worried, but I'm sure the OP has guessed by now. :p
