    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello everyone, Last month I bought a bearded dragon and she has been great. Except for the fact that she refuses to eat greens. She is 4-6 months old and won't touch any kinds of green I have tried giving her. ( Kale, Escarole, turnip greens, Bok choi, parsley, mustard greens) and won't even eat the blue berries or carrots I sprinkled on the salad to try to entice her.

Any advice on how to get her to eat more greens?
 
Hi David...the way I get my babies to eat greens from the time they are 2 weeks old is just to shred them and drop the pieces around them when they are hungry. They all eat great as they grow because they expect the greens to " fall in" the tank, and initially the movement attracts them and they pounce on the pieces. So, whether your beardie can be enticed by using that method, I don't know, but you can try it when he's hungry and waiting for the bugs to drop into his tank. Some people just offer a large leaf by hand, others might hide a few slow moving bugs in a bowl with the greens on top so that as the bugs move, the greens move and the dragon may get eat some greens when the grab for the live food. Hopefully one of these tips will work.
 
Hi David maybe you could put a couple meal worms or super worms on top of your bearded dragons salad. It will give her the movement she is looking for and may make it more appetizing to her. I hope this helps. I used to do it with mine and she eats salads fine now without any super worms on top. Have a great day and good luck
 
I've tried the superworms on top of the salad several times, but the only time she came up with greens she flicked her head and threw it across the cage haha. I will try and sprinkle the greens down from above. I am open to all suggestions.
 
Hopefully that works. Bearded dragons can be difficult sometimes! You just have to keep at it and eventually they give in. Good luck! If I think of anything else I will let you know. Hope to hear that she starts eating her greens.
 
Continue offering greens to her regardless if she is eating them yet or not. I found that beardies get excited when they see movement, so i will sprinkle the greens inside their cage and make sure they see it. I also place the greens in an area of the tank where the UVB/UVA bulb is giving the most output. Humans can only see in 3 colors, reptiles can see in 4 colors, but in order to see that they need UVA. Its almost like they are "colorblind" (in a certain sense) without it.
 
To be honest, stop feeding them roaches/worms or whatever insect you are for a couple of days.

Introduce the veggies and they will be begging for it. This helps to grow their appetite.
