In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

These are some pictures of my new incubator I built. I got the idea from Clay Davenport; the Johnson thermostat is one I got from Dennis Thomas. I do not have all of the racks in it in the pictures. But I am thinking it will hold at least 600 tegu eggs. Let me know what you guys think.

Bobby,
It looks like a nice design. How about sharing some of the details?
ie: what materials were used to construct it?

Thanks,

Mike, I used Clay's design mostly. Here is his link.

I did add a few things to it. I added a 60-watt light bulb; it is plugged into the power strip on the Johnson thermostat. I also added three 12-volt computer fans to circulate the air; these are also connected to the power strip. The shell is a deep freeze turned up on end. Everything has been removed from the freezer, as seen on Clay's site.

Oh, also the total cost when it was all done was about $105.00. IMO, that is a very cheap price for a incubator of this size. :)

the question is, are you gonna have 600 tegu eggs to put in it??
Looks good, Bobby. Hope it serves you well

Harald, I might have over 600 this season. I am breeding 12 females, each could produce as many as 60 eggs each. :)

And thanks for the great comments guys!!

That's a good looking setup. Mine has served me well for 3 or 4 seasons now, and you've made yours better than mine (I still haven't added any fans), so you should do very well with yours.
I'd be interested to know how well the flexwatt does the job later on when the incubator is full. From what I can see you've used either the 3 or 4 inch wide flexwatt. The addition of the light will probably offset the decrease in wattage provided by the heaters, but let us know how the temps hold once you have it full of eggs.

As far as incubating 600+ tegu eggs, all I can say is DAMN! You've definitely got more dedication to this than I do lol, I wouldn't want 600 of anything to take care of.

what kind of fans can you use?

This may sound a little stupid, but what kind of fan's can be used besides computer? We just built an incubator out of a double door fridge. Also I'm needing to know what thermostat I should use. Keep in mind I'm needing to go the cheapest route possible for the time being.

you can use any fan, realistically, as long as there's air movement to break up temperature stratifications, so it doesn't have to be a wind tunnel, just air movement. 2ndly, you need a proportional thermostat. ie. ranco, herpstat, helix

Shelves...

Bobby,
Where did you get the wireshelves? I have a similar incubator but smaller with the cpu fans, flexwatt, and Helix Thermostat in a small upright freezer. I've been using it for 5 or 6 years and have hatched snakes, lizards, and turtles in it.

I got them at a local used appliance store, I just took the measurements and matched them up. They charged me $3.00 dollars each for them.
