In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i got a new leo from the hamburg show on sat from a friend who was there getting stuff for himself. it's a hypo tang male(sold as a female, but it looks male to me). it ate real well the day after i got him, about 6 crickets, but absolutely nothing afterwards. i have offered mealies, butterworms, and more crickets. he has also produced no stool since i have had him. he is active when i pick him up but quiet in the cage. his weight is 30 gms and has not changed since i received him. i do give them a initial deworming dose of meds when i first get them to make sure there are no additional buddies. he got a dose of flagyl and is currently receiving albon and after that dose is done he will go for a round of panacur(my vet likes to do this on new additions). i have yet to get him vet checked but am now thinking that i should call and make an appointment today. i know nothing of how he was kept before i got him. temps are at 90-92 on the hot and that is where he spends all his time under his rock. could it be stress? should i give him more time? thanks for the help.

oh i forgot to mention that he is in his own tank and will be going through a 3 month quarantine.

Older leos (subadult and older) can take awhile to settle in. It does concern me that he ate once, never had a bowel movement, and hasn't eaten since. Does he look healthy with good fat reserves in the tail?

It could actually be the meds causing him to go off feed. Panacur is generally safe but flagyl and especially albon can cause problems in leos sometimes. It is very hard on them. I don't recommend shotgunning with either of those two meds.

My advice at this point would be get him in to the vet and have a cloacal smear done to check for any endoparasites, and go from there.

i might just be used to seeing the fat tails on my guys, so i think his could be better. i do have an appointment today at 11 a.m. with one of the 3 exotics vet at the hospital i used to work at many years ago. will let you know how it goes.

Good for you Jessica, I am glad you are taking him to the vet, and please let us know what you find out. *fingers crossed*

well it turns out Swat, the leo, is a glutton. the vet was feeling his abdomen and commenting that it was real hard and tense when he decided to let loose all over the vet. his stool was almost the size of what my beardie passes!!!! well we got our fecal sample :hehe: and it was negative. she said to do the panacur only and that today not to feed him. she thinks that he ate more than he should have and bloated himself. other than that i have a healthy looking gecko. :)

LMAO....poor vet. Great to hear he's going to be just fine.

surprisingly she took it well, there was maybe a 2 second shock reaction. she was amazed at how large it was. she was actually happier that the belly felt so much better after that. i was just laughing because i couldn't help it.

good news!! he did finally eat a roach nymph for me. he doesn't seem to like the bowl idea yet, so for now they have to run around and get his attention. i'm so happy he finally ate.

That's good news
I'm glad that everything "came out" OK
sorry- I just couldn't help myself
:hehe:
