    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Here are some not super great pictures of Kaylee, she did not want to cooperate! I don't think she likes my husband for some reason, she inducted him into the bite club the first day we brought them home and lounged for him once during the photo shoot. He was the one taking pictures. She has not, knock on wood, ever attempted to bite me but we are both cautious with her. However, Simon, the one that was supposed to be the easy going one, has nailed me twice but never given my husband a problem.

Always a pleasure to see a Brazilian gracing these forums, Amanda. Kaylee is looking pretty good! How old is she now?

(I've noticed that a usually tame rainbow can sometimes react poorly to a specific person, almost as if the animals picks up some type of vibe...I had a baby that disliked a friend of mine so much he fell of the table trying to tag my buddy! That said, they almost always mellow with age.)

Thanks!
She and Simon are an adult pair we got from a semi local guy who was getting married and needed them gone. He was at least their second owner and wasn't sure about their ages but thought that Kaylee was about 3 1/2 and Simon 2 1/2 years old. But I believe they are at least a year older than that. We got them last Sept and the guy we got them from said that they had had a litter of 18 babies in 2012.

I do much prefer getting babies and raising them up, it is a lot easier to learn their quirks and moods. Not so intimidating dealing with a grumpy baby who you don't know exactly how it might react to various things than it is dealing with an adult you don't know!

Brazilians can breed as early as age 2.5, but I think it's a mistake, especially for females. Larger girls equals stronger, healthier litters. However, if they bred in 2012, that means they were at least 2009s, placing them at age five now. Given she had an above-average-size litter, I'd estimate at least another year on top of that.

I agree with you 100% on raising your own breeders. Every animal except two here was raised from birth.

Looking forward to more of your wonderful picts!!!!
