    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

These two are proven, but I would prefer them go to seperate pet homes instead of a breeding situation. Both are SUCH sweethearts. I've been working with them a ton. Wasa, the male, is 9, and Nikki is 11. They have had clutches, but Nikki plucked Wasas tailfeathers out, so their last 3 clutches had been infertile. Now, just so you know, these are not my birds, I am just working with them and keeping them at my house for a friend, though, I know most everything about them. If my family didn't dislike them so much, I would be tempted to keep them. Wasa has a pretty good vocabulary, he says Wasa, I love you, Love you Wasa, Earthquake!, Buh bye, and a few others...We're teaching him to say more and more. Now, as for Nikki, she wouldn't utter a word before she got here, she had spent most of her time in the nestbox, only coming out to eat and drink. She was nearly bald when I recieved her, now most of her feathers are coming in nicely. Wasas tailfeathers are starting to come in as well. Nikki now wolf whisles and says "Wasa" and last night she said I love you...I"m so proud of her! I was beaming last night when she said that. These two have been through a lot, and I would like them to go to permanant homes if at all possible. And seperate homes, so they keep their pet qualities. I've had them seperated now, but in the same room, since the begining of April. THey are doing great, they eat a variety of foods, their favorites I'd have to say are noodles. :) Nikki I think prefers apples though. At any rate, they still need work, as it's a long process coming from breeders back to complete pets...Nikki will not step up yet, but she'll step up onto a stick if she goes to the floor. Wasa steps up fine and will cuddle into your arm, but, from being a breeder bird, he is dominant if he gets above your head, so he cannot be on your shoulder, only on your forearm. They're asking $800 for Wasa and $600 for Nikki, or $1000 for the both of them, which is negotiable to the right home. If you take them both, there's one cage that's big enough for one of them too. We're willing to work out shipping if need be, or, one of the owners is going to KY the end of October, so could deliver along the way, or meet you somewhere. If there's any interest or you know of someone who'd be interested, please let me know. You can email me directly at [email protected] or post a message here on the site :) Thanks!

Rayna,
Do you still have your birds for sale? I live in St. Cloud, MN and would be able to pick up if interested. These birds would be a part of the family, and not used as breeders.

your cockatoos

I live in NC and am looking for a cockatoo. I just seen your ad today (2-13-05), I am interested in either one of the birds. I only want the one and will give a good home to him/her. I have had 12 years experience with birds and go to college through internet classes and I am at home most of the day. I have a quaker parrot now and I have always wanted a cockatoo. I have more experience with the Double yellow headed amazons but I have also some experience with Cockatoos. Please send me an email to [email protected] and let me know if you still have them or call me at 828-267-5737 (home) or 828-310-1273 (cell). My cell # is easier to reach me at. Thanks, Debbie k.
