    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Paul Moody aka Simply Snakes - Sent different snake and won't refund money.

Anthony Paul is a person not people! When you refer to people you are referring to more than one person. HAVE YOU SPOKEN TO ME? No! Again you could not return the numerous telephone calls we made to you. As far as your other comments Anthony I am not going to waste anymore of my time. Paul and I both are highly regarded and respected people and your comments/accusations are so far out of character of us that people who truly know us can see that.

I am not a cornsnake hobbyist, but would agree, the snake's colors on the first post, as compared to the second pic of the animal in question (both posted by simplysnakes), don't look anything alike.

As a photographer, I understand how different light situations can effect color, and wouldn't expect a herp hobbyist to, necessarily, be a pro photographer.

But, if I paid a premium price for the animal pictured in the first post, and received an animal that actually looked like the one in post 81, I would be a little pissed.

Whatever was actually said on the phone, well, who the Hell knows?

I still don't see a definite bad guy here, just a few things that don't smell right.
 
Beth your not doing yourself any favors here!! If you had sent the animal that Anthony bought from you in the first place this thread wouldn't be here.. Even though your packing of the animal sucked I doubt that alone would have earned a thread. You made an honest mistake, wellllll OK then you should have taken care of it pronto,,shipped the correct snake immediately and had him send the wrong animal back on your dime. The way this played out Anthony wondered if after he returned the wrong animal if he'd get anything for his money and to be honest he wasn't the only one wondering that. Anthony like most of us don't know you and from what some of us saw it looked fishy.

Now if your smart about this you'll say "Wow Anthony we're really sorry this had to happen !! And then don't even bother to open this thread again..Randy

THERE ARE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DEALERS IN THE SOUTH EAST THAT I'VE ALWAYS STAYED CLEAR OF. THIS IS ONE. I'VE HEARD A FEW GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM. BUT I'VE HEARD MORE BAD THINGS ABOUT THEM. THIS JUST BACKS THAT UP EVEN MORE. A MISTAKE IS ONE THING. THE WAS YOU SHIPPED THAT SNAKE WAS ANOTHER. AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT YOUR METHODS HAVE COME UP TO QUESTION. WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO SHIP LIKE THAT? IF THAT'S THE WAY YOU SHIP, I'D LOVE TO SEE HOW YOU ACTUALLY CARE FOR THEM.

What is wrong with waiting until the weather breaks to ship the snake back to you?
Any responsible individual who cares about the well being of the animal will hold off on shipping if weather conditions are not good.

It seems that you don't care what the weather is like. It sopunds like you just want to ship immediately with no regards to the welfare of the animal.
Did you use a new insulated box with heatpacks this time?

I don't blame him for holding off on shipping due to weather. I have done that several times and to be honest, if someone gave me a hard time about delaying shipping and wanted the animal to go when it was too cold or snowing, I would refund their money immediately and not sell them the snake. I am not going to risk shipping in unfavorable conditions to make a buck. I would rather lose the sale and keep the animal healthy.

You don't seem to have the well being of the animal first when it comes to how you ship.
 
You know I live near Ocala and I know people around there but never heard of Paul Moody........but I'll have my peeps check it out...figure out where he lives......maybe get some questions answered

Paul and I have never exchanged emails. Email was done between Paul and my partner, Gary.

I spoke to Paul about this on the telephone. Paul went off on a tangent about how what he did was OK and how I was being too picky and didn't know anything about the way the hobby works.

Bottom line, either your husband is lying to you or you are lying to everyone here...either way, I don't care because I think everyone has gotten a good glimpse of how Simply Snakes operates.

Note - Both photos above were taken in my studio setup under the same lights with the same camera, with the same settings, etc.

The picture Beth posted of the correct snake is very poorly lit, hence the sani-chips being dark brown, rather than the light tan color they should be.

Anyways....I think I've made my point and I got what I wanted, so I'm not going to get sucked into this stupidity any further.
 
I can see how anyone could mistake one of those snakes for the other.

Provided that that anyone had one functioning eye and cataracts the size of "de NILE" but, that's just me.
 
First of all, let me introduce myself. I am Gary Quirk, Anthonys Partner. I think its time I come on and state some facts.First off Anthony has NEVER e-mailed Paul, I have done all the e-mailing during this fiasco.Second, I was present every time that Anthony and Paul spoke on the phone, and everything Anthony has stated is FACT! To show you what type of person is, he left me a msg on my answering machine stating" He wants us to post an Apology after we recieved the correct snake and MO for the shipping" Why would I post an apology for something that we had to pull teeth and bring to a public forum to get accomplished! I honestly believe that had it not been for the peer pressure, this deal would not have been settled! Apologize! I THINK NOT!

Gary, you bring-up an excellent point. If I were you, I would never retract my comments.

These two fools are scammers and AC and yourself called them on it. They tried the bait and switch and lost. I wonder just how many other people they purported to sell that original snake to...

Their shipping methods are putrid. But they do save on the cost of an insulated box and a heat pad each time that they send an animal out. They must feel like real heroes. That $1.50, to them, is much more important than the health and well-being of a defenseless animals.

Shame on you, paul and beth! You two clowns disgust me!
 
Having just completed a recent transaction for multiple snakes from Paul, I thought I should chime in here and mention my experience with the Moodys was beyond my expectations.

In mid Feb, I purchased a female Japanese Ratsnake from Paul. He e-mailed me pics of the two females available and let me choose the one I wanted. While on the phone with him, knowing he was in FL, I inquired if he knew anyone who worked with Everglades Ratsnakes. He said he had some babies at that time. I asked Paul how much it would be to add a female Everglades to the transaction, and he said he would include one for free! I sent a MO as payment, and in the mean time changed my mind about which Japanese Rat I wanted. I called Paul and told him to send me the other one instead when he shipped, and he said no problem.

Paul also was kind enough to hold and feed my two snakes for 3 weeks until it was warm enough to safely ship at my end. When he did ship, he even allowed me Saturday delivery for no extra charge so I could be home to sign for the snakes (I am a teaher, so I cant be home before 3 pm). When he sent me the e-mail notifying me of shipping and giving me the tracking number, he said he had gotten some additional Everglades hatchlings from his friend and had put a male in also at no extra charge!

When the snakes arrived, they were all fine. I compared the Japanese Rat to the pics he sent me, and I got the one I had originally indicated instead of the one I wanted and had called him about. I called and talked to Beth, and she said she would call Paul in the field and tell him. She called me back within 15 minutes and said they would send the one I wanted to me to make it right. I felt guilty since they had already thrown in the additional male Everglades for free, but Beth insisted. I said I would return the Japanese Rat I had, but she said that would be more expensive than just keeping it because they would have to pay that shipping too, and that the snake would be doubly stressed by going thru shipping again.

Having exchanged several e-mails, and several phone calls with both Paul and Beth, I can without hesitation say they are extremely nice people to work with. I found them to be nothing short of a pleasure to do business with.

Having found and read this thread AFTER my experience with them, I thought my transaction should be shared to show that people have had good experiences with Simply Snakes too. And for anyone who thinks this transaction was made up, I will gladly provide my e-mail address: [email protected]. This way, you can ask me questions directly about my experience, or even exchange phone numbers and I will talk to people directly.

Bottom line, we hear mostly about bad experiences on this forum, but even vendors who make mistakes (whether due to their fault, or the customer's) can still be good vendors.
 
The new snake definately looks nicer. It's not a WHOLE LOT different, but for how much you paid for a corn snake, I would want the one pictured as well. And it definately does look nicer than the other one, even if it's just a little nicer. I just want to know one thing about all this... If you husband (Simply snakes) is the one that was dealing with this whole thing, why are you the one doing all the talking here? You obviously didn't deal with any of this at all, your husband did, let him do the talking.
 
I told you not to buy the snake that the name was phony . You had to have it though. If I remember right ,I talked to you many times over the computer and in the cornsnake fourm. Told you then he was asking way too much for the snake and it was a pastel motley and not worth more that 100 dollars. Sorry it fell through for you.
