In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

please any profesionals help

My bearded dragon has a strange green area of unshed skin along with a large sore on his foot that gets bigger with every new shed. and recently there has appeared another sore that looks like a knot above his back left leg. I have tried the shedding aid spray and the vitamin spray but it looks like it is getting worse. Any info could help.
contact me at [email protected] because i dont know how often i will be able to look back here.
Thanks
John

That really sounds like something that should be seen by a qualified herp vet.

Any chance you can post pictures?

Yes a vet would be in order.. That is not somehting that a forum can help with...

He does need to see a vet, he has either a bacterial or a fungal infection and it is not going to go away on its own. You need to find out which it is and treat it, then also what may have caused it

What Substrate are you using, that's usually the first place to look for the cause

Bearded Dragon "Skin Sore"! Really Weird Help ! ! !

Hey guys,

I just noticed on my male bearded dragons skin a round spot that kinda looks like the scales fell off and has a skin like look under it. I'ts not oosing anything and seems quite dry. I touched it and it didn't seem to bother him at all. Allthough, he does have a personality of a Lab and will put up with quite a bit, lol.
Worried that it might be some sort of skin fungus. If anyone has any clues on what this might be, I'd love to hear it. I've attatched a couple pics to give everyone a better idea of what it looks like.

Thanks,
Jerit

This does not look like any skin fungal or bacteria infection I have seen, it looks like a thermal burn

Could he had touched or been lifted into his overehead lights?

Hey there,

Thanks for the quik reply and help!

Well, now that I think about it....

I had just gotten back from mexico for vacation and had to have him borded along with my other dragons at a reptile store called Scales and Tails. When I went to go pick them up I walked inside to view the cages that they had been in for the past week. Nitro is my males name. He was hanging from the wire cage they had over the heat bulb to keep the animals from touching it. There is a possibility that he might have gotten too close to the bulb itself or something hot while in their care.
Nitro was in mid shed when I picked him up from them. So I wasn't able to notice this burn. After he shedded in this area I noticed this weird sore looking thing and that was about a week ago. He's still shedding but only on his tail.
Other then that his cage here at home is perfectly safe. My first impression was that it might be a burn as well. So instantly I checked in his cage, the distance of were he would sit to the heat bulb and there could be no way that he got a burn from his regular inclosure.
Plus.... He's been in this cage for a year. He is a year and 1/2 old now. He probably would have gotten a burn before now.
The only thing I can think of is that he got burned while in the care of Scales & Tails during bording.

hmmm,
I might want to contact them about this.

Do you know of any type of medication that could help heal this up? It looks like it is doing pretty good though. It's not oosing any kind of fluids or puffy of any sort.

Does this normally heal up well or does it leave a nasty scar and the scales won't grow back?

Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!

Jerit

He will have a scar, they usually are not that bad and that does not look like a deep burn, but the scales will not come back.

Silvadene creme 1% works well, but I am not sure that he is not past the point of needing it. Infection id the biggest concern for burns, but this one does not appear to be that bad, unless it gets worse

AWESOME ! ! !

Thanks Cheri for your help! Much appreciated!

Yea, it looks like it's doing pretty well for a burn. I'll get that Silvadene creme 1% just to be safe though. Were's a good cheap place to purchase this?

Thanks soooooo much!
Jerit

Check with you pharmacy out there, it may be prescription and if it is he may be able to recommend something close that is not

I have a dragon that has scars that resemble yours almost 100%. After several vet trips and many tests it was found to be a fungal infection closely related to athletes foot. Lotrimin cream for athletes foot stopped the spreading and healed him quickly.

It started out in just a couple small spots and spread quite quickly. It got the point that his skin broke and open wounds appeared. He had it on both of his fronts arms and on the side of his face. There was also a couple small spots on his back. Antibiotics were given to him and the open wounds healed but the fungus remained. He has lost scales and spikes do the fungus and they will never grow back. By using lotrimin cream the fungus is gone but some nice looking scars remain. It never showed up in any of my other dragons. My vet feels he somehow got exposed to the fungus and that is was an isolated event.

I'll post some pics so you compair the wounds to your dragon. Keep in mind the pictures I posted are after severe spreading of the fungus.

Aeee. the dear thing, at least you got it under control, he can live with the scars just fine, he probably does not know he is a little less than perfect!

He has got very special treatment since this happened. He is absolutely spoiled rotten..... What's worse is that he knows it!!!!!

He will be with me until he dies. He is the only dragon I have that I can honestly admit I love.

The best part is that it was a dragon person and not the vet that suggested the lotrimin. Tere Salazar (Saladragon) suggested it and her suggestion cured him. The vet was quite impressed with her diagnosis and "perscription" of lotrimin and so am I.
