    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What is the normal pooing thing for geckos? Chica seems to poo about once every five days. I have no idea what could be the matter with her. I dont think heat is a problem because I have an under tank heater and a 100 watt light bulb.

What could be causing this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

What size is your cage? That sounds like an awful lot of heat for most cages. I would be concerned about dehydration...it could be making her constipated.

Also, do you feed her as much as she can eat in 15 - 20 minutes every day? When you do, they usually poo once every 24 hours. If you're feeding less than that, that could be your problem.

Give us a rundown of your setup, as well is info about your gecko (age, health, been to a vet?), and we can give you a better idea of what might be worng.

Shes in a 20 gallon tank (spoiled), and shes really weird about eating. I have to keep the crickets in her tank because she only eats when she feels like it. I was wondering about dehydration too. I never see he drink her water and Im started to get worried. What can i do about that? When I first got her, she wouldnt eat at all and when i tried to help her, she would make sure I couldnt get her mouth open.

She has a cool side of her tank.

If you need to leave food in for her all the time, you should use a bowl of mealworms instead (and change them out at least every other day for freshly gutloaded ones). The crickets will nibble on your leo when they get hungry, which will stress her out (and they can do a lot of damage). When a leo is stressed, they won't eat properly. Only put in crickets for 1/2 hour, let her chase them around, and then find the ones she didn't eat.

As for the water, you may not see her drink, but it doesn't mean she's not. Always make sure to have good, clean water available at all times. It was 6 months before I saw ANY of my geckos drinking. If she's dehydrated, her eyes will look a bit sunken, and her tail will look withered and wrinkly (should be nice and plump).

How do you measure your temperature? You need a hot spot on the SURFACE that measures 90 - 95 on the warm side. You can measure the surface temperature with either a tempgun or a digital thermometer and just place the probe on the ground. A digital thermometer with the probe in the air will only measure the air temperature, and that can be 10 or more degrees LESS than the surface temperature. The dial thermometers ONLY measure the air and can be very inaccurate. The crystal thermometers (the ones that change color like a mood ring) are pretty much worthless...they are the worst thermometer you could have.

If your temperature is higher than 95 (and it very well could be), your gecko won't eat as well and will most likely spend most of the time on the cool side of the tank. You want her to feel comfortable enough on both sides that she splits her time between the warm side and cool side pretty evenly.

I agree with Shanti that a 100W light bulb with an undertank heater is overkill and likely contributing to the problem. Go pick up a nice digital thermometer from target for $9 and find out what's really going on. Without it, you'll just be guessing at the temps.
