• Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have tried to post a photo and I have been unsuccessful. I uploaded easily enough but have been unable to actually post it. I used the Insert Image icon and a screen pops up that asks for a script prompt and I am supposed to "enter text to be formatted". Does anyone know what I am doing wrong???

Thanks

Not sure how you are doing it but here are two ways you can post pictures to Fauna:

From your computer

When posting (in Advanced Mode - Quick Reply doesn't offer the option to post photos) there is the section underneath the message box and Post Icons labelled Additional Options. In there you find the Manage Attachments. Clicking on Manage Attachments brings up the window that you use to upload your photos (or files).

Click the Browse button and search for your photo. Once you've selected it click OK and either browse for another or click the Upload button.

Once your pictures have been uploaded (the message "current attachments" will show up as well as the file(s) you've uploaded). Then click Close Window and submit your post. The photos will show as attachments to your post.

From an internet location

This is the one I suspect you are using, but trying to use a file from your computer...

Clicking the imagine button will ask you to enter the location of the picture. This is for an internet URL. If your picture is hosted on a site somewhere else, just enter the URL of the picture. You cannot use this option to 'upload' a picture from your computer. This is strickly for posting a picture from a link.

Therefore, posting a picture from an internet site would have you click on the insert image icon, entering the url....eg: http://www.someplace.com/photoname.jpg and clicking on OK.

This will bring the URL into the message window with the image tags around it:

{img}http://www.someplace.com/photoname.jpg{/img}

where the {} brackets are actually the square ones.

Hope this helps. If not...let me know and I will try to explain a little better!
