In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

According to the news Paypal has been having computer problems for the last 5 days.. They say some people can not even access their account. Anyone having problems??? Could this be the reason for people not receiving what they ordered ?.. Just a thought..

It was difficult to log in for a few days. Also I've noticed that the normal email announcements of payments and receipts haven't been arriving. So if you expecting payment log in and check your account. If your paying for something then email the person and confirm they've recieved your payment.

I just closed my personal account

with them because of all the horror stories about people having their bank acounts cleaned out. I am keeping my merchant account, and I will keep a minimal amount of money in that bank account for that paypal address. I have liked the paypal service so far...but I think they need a little competition to keep them honest!
And I also had trouble all of last week getting logged on. Too many possible disasters waiting to happen!

I had a paymant arrive in my paypal acoount & wasn't even aware of it untill customer contacted me to see if I recieved it. Sure enough I log in & there it is but I never received any notification from them. I also noticed a new log in screen from last time I was on so maybe they are working out some glitches.

We've also seen some difficulties logging in and out. We had one person who had to email us to get our shipping address, because he could not get into paypal to access the address included with our payment.

These things happen... It's not the end of the world.

Thanks Webslave.. YOU ROCK

I do not use paypal but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up...

Well, I just got my notification that payment was sent 2 days ago. This after I already refunded it as the customer is going to pay balance at time of pick up at show. I did get refund notice right away but as for payment being made into my account nothing. When in doubt Log In.

Check with your bank before you feel safe. I havnt had a Paypal acount for ever. My bank if I have $10 in and write you a check for $20 the check will bounce. However if it is a electronic check youll over draft my acount. What I am getting at is depending on your bank they possiblly can come and take more out then what your balance is and overdraft your a acount. Ity may only be my bank but they way they explained it to me is that all banks are like they have no way to stop electronic transactions that may overdraft your acount.

I shut down my paypal acount after having some money reversed. I sold a few small items over ebay. I only sold to verified memebers and shipped to those verified addressesbecause their TOS gaunenteed they would back up and reverse charges from verified people. I sold an item for I think $17.51 shipped to someone and anyway about 3 months later I get my bank statement and I seen paypal had debited that amount from my acount. I logged in checked my paypal log and sure enough they had reversed the sale. I never even got an email or nothing from paypal letting me know they were going to do that. Also I had to get their phone number from another website because I couldnt find it anywhere on theirs and I spent a ton of time looking for it. I called them and tried to find out what happened. After getting the run around for 45 minutes and transered to 5 differant departments one lady finally leveled with me and told me the card was reported stolen and the CC company had reversed all the charges on the card. So I asked about the gaurentee they had at that time(they still may I dont know) about verified members and verified shipping addresses. She told me there was nothing she could do because the CC company had reveresed the charges I asked for the comapanies name so I could contact them she said due to privacy protection she could not give me that info. I asked about the person who the paypal acount belonged to once again privacy. The only way I even knew who it was was by checking the logs and matching the amounts of the charge back to the sale. I emailed that person and of course no responce. So in my case there policies didnt mean crap. $17 didnt break me but $1700 would hurt so at that point I closed the acount.

I had a friend who got screwed over for $1300 or so but I dont remeber the details anymore, eventally somehow he got his money but it took him like 8 months.

I dont know this to be true but what I was told is Paypal was created by 11 lawyers and there true terms of service the way it is written really means you have no rights at all. They have the bold print there that anyone can read but when I was a member that was only portions of the true TOS and it kept referancing the true TOS whihc I never read I looked at it but it was like a 3inch book or something and it was all lawyer language. Also go check out www.paypalsucks.com and www.paypalwarning.com

Anyway I wont ever use them again. The $17 wasnt a big issue it just shown me that between their TOS and gaurentees it just runs you in cicrles and you got no legal rights against them. I know ebay bought them out so maybe its differant now but Ill never open another acount with them.

This is a big eye opener!

Paypal is easy and a lot of people use it. I had some troubles logging in but a day later I had no problems. The day before I couldn’t get on I had a lot of funds transferred to my bank account which went no problem! Anyways due to these sites you have brought to my attention I will now be opening another bank account. I had my main account under paypal and no longer want it that way! Anyways so far my experience has been great with paypal.

Just about every form of payment is a risk these days. Postal money orders can be forged as well as cashier's checks. Heck I just took a large order that was paid via wire transfer and I'm holding my breath that the buyer didn't figure out a way to scam that form of payment as well.

If you accept credit cards via phone and internet orders and don't have a signature, you could wind up on the short end of the stick some day. Unfortunately it seems that YOU are always the one put in the hot seat no matter what happens. Good guys don't always win. Matter of fact, I would say they RARELY win.

The only really secure method of payment is getting cash. As long as it isn't counterfeit...... ;) And I've gotten some pretty odd looking money lately at the shows.....

I know paypal is huge and every day process thousands of transactions without a hitch but to me when someone had acsess to my bank acount and all they would give me was some crap about privacy policies when they had withdrawn money out of my acount. To me the amount didnt matter it was the potential for dissaster. Another thing that really ticked me off was the time I spent looking for their phone numbers and couldnt find them on the site. I wound up getting them off one of the two sites I listed before. The site also had a big article about why people couldnt find the numbers on paypal site. The have(or had) some kind of system set up that depending on why you wanted to contact them it either would or would not show you the number. I followed the directions on the other site and checked it myself and sure enough when followed I found the number. Anyway best of luck

Many comment from the seller's viewpoint. For buyer's, you might as well send cash because their buyer protection policy is virtually useless. You must have complete trust in the seller. I got scammed for a near-death 35g male pastel ball python sold as a healthy female (female pastels are twice the market value of males for those of you not into BP's). Per Paypal policy the attributes of an item sold do not qualify for buyer protection. Their buyer protection apparently only applies to sellers that fail to deliver a package. This would apply to anything...reproductions sold as authentic antiques, something sold as operational, but a useless piece of sh*t with missing parts...Doesn't matter. Even when I pushed Paypal with their own claims of no tolerance for fraud, it seems all the seller has to do is deliver you a package then refuse to accept return and you're screwed. Paypal is requesting I prove the merchandise wasn't delivered, or prove that it was returned. If the seller won't accept return, he's got my money, I've got his crap...Too bad! In my discussions with their customer service rep's they seemed to suggest if the item was bought through E-Bay, they offered more in the way of buyer protection. That doesn't do us any good though since E-Bay doesn't allow animal sales. I'm still pushing my credit card company to reverse the charges to Paypal. There are many scenarios that could develop from there, but the reality is I'll probably have to travel out of state and take the seller to court to resolve the issue. Just had to put in my 2 cents. Thanks for allowing me to vent!

I had issues logging in for a few days, now I can log in, but no emails notifications for our payments are being mailed to us.

hmm

Maybe we all need to resetup our accts now, since they been having problems?

Maybe they made that an option?
