    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Push ups and black beards

Are female bearded dragons the only ones that do the push ups? Also is it the male that changes beard color or do females do it also? I saw for the first time my female doing push ups but also her beard darkened a little. I am confused.
Maybe I just have weird dragons.lol :confused:
 
Usually the males are the ones that will do the fast, jerking push-ups with a blackened beard, although females will do it to a lesser extend. It seems to me that the female's beards do not get the same inky black as the male's, however. I have mainly observed "slow motion" pushups in my females as they respond to the male doing the fast push-ups.

Black beards in the female usually means they are upset. In males it just means they are horny! lol. I have seen both sexes of dragons do pushups, though. Usually before they hit puberty. Then as they are adults, you see more of a distinction of females slowly bow and males bob.
 
Yeah the girls are young adults now. They were born on 3/17 of this year. This was the first time I have seen one of them do push ups. It was more of a slow movement. Then a few minutes after I noticed the dark beard so I was not sure if the male and females both did this. The book I have only said males have the black beard and females do push ups. So I figured I should ask. Thanks for the help.
