In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Id love to see members quarantine rooms and if they are in another building another room or just a rack in there snake room. :shrug01:

I have no pics of this because it is quite non-impressive. It is just a small rack system that holds 4 tubs in my living room. Which is 2-1/2 floors away from my actual snake room. It comes out of the garage only when we buy/trade a snake and it will go in there for 3 to 6 months. I have finally put the rack back in the garage here last week and finally introduced the snakes I deem healthy into the collective. Again not real impressive just a rack in a living room.lol
Oh personally I would not have a quarantine rack IN THE SNAKE ROOM. This would not really be a true way to keep critters & such in check if ya know what I mean.

I too only have a 4 tub rack that I use for 3-6 months for QT. If I have one in it when a new one comes in the time starts over. So I never have more then 4 new additions at a time, but if I did I would just build another 4 or 5 rack. My QT is on a differant floor on a differant corner of the house.

When I was living in my farmhouse, I had a small shed attached to the back of the house for quarantine. Before then, when I had fewer animals, I used the basement for quarantine (it was dark and isolated) and kept the regular animals upstairs in another room.

great post everyone, now while in QT what are you observing, are you doing anything diffrent to the snakes in QT, verses your collection that is not in QT?

For me it depends on the source of the animal, its appearance, it,s behaviour and how it settles into the routine. But I use seperate utensils, tubs and bowls for all QT animals. Other then that they don,t do anything differant.

Basically treat it like it has mites. Bedding is sprayed(PAM) and it is on paper towels for the first month & 1/2. It is easier to see mites this way.
Like mentioned above separate everything. Food is only given to them and not attempted then given to others etc etc.. Yeah then pretty much checking for any defects - RI - death, Ya know the typical stuff.. Want to see nice sheds & perfect poops. This has saved me in the past.

For qtine- the animal is checked when first come in. The tub is treated with pam. I peak on occasion for about a week, but I kinda leave the snake alone to adjust with the excepting being a few days later I take the snake out and just check it over. I then feed it and see if it eats and ect. I really start observing it after its settled/ I like check for anything wrong first, but then give the snake some time to get used to the new place.

I qtine for 3 months, so over that time, I see if anything is odd with stools or behavior.

As far as doing anything different for qtine- well, use different items- liek different feeding tongs, never offer that snakes food to another, different holding tub- different room in house- thats what i do differently. And I always tend to them last- period. If for some reason I have to tend to them first- tending to established collection is pushed off a day til after i shower and such ( i just never felt comfy doing it the same day even after a shower and new clothes)

My qtine isnt very special- its just tubs or tanks set up in another room with cardboard around it. Someone thought it was a whelping pad...lol. But the cardboard is to help keep the heat in since we have issues with the heat here- it doesnt keep any potential viruses trapped in. I keep the hot spots in qtine a smidge warmer- just a few degrees.

It ends when the 3 months is up and i feel the snake is deemed in good health. If something funky happens- knock on wood- the 3 months would be reset- like Ri or something.

Here's a pic of mine. Its not the best but it does the job. Its a storage shelf with heat cable. It's at my store and I get my snakes shipped here and they stay for around 4 months depending on how there doing. Then they go to my house that's about 30 miles away.
