    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. For those of you on the West Coast that know me, nope not the smoking addiction (yet)... the Leo addiction. I have decided that I am selling Montezuma's Reptiles and everything reptile related. :bawling:
Some of you know that I toiled with the ideal several months ago after being absolutely frustrated with the worthless show scene here in Arizona and being tired of driving to CA to do shows. Well, over that last 2 months that I have been "away" I gave it some thought and decided that with work schedule and everything else in life that it is for the best. Taking care of several hundred geckos can be just too much work when 12+ hour days are expected by your employer!
I will still be "around" on fauna from time to time... hmmm, I may have to change my sign on name! Anyways, I want to thank all of you who made the past years fun and enjoyable. Heck, even those of you who I have tangled with made it fun.

donations? id like a few nice breeder animals if you dont mind...... jsut 100 or so (LOL!) just kdding, about the 100. srry to hear that another breeder is leaving the market. its always sad to hear when one of us big or small time guys is leaving. sometimes however other things have to take priority. ,y coach gives me that line everytime i miss practice.

Dang! I really hate to hear you are leaving. I do understand how it can be frusrating though. Hope everything works out.

well best of luck to you...and when are u going to start posting stuff for sale?

I appreciate the kind words. I really would like to just sell everything as a whole... website, show materials, reptiles.. the whole shabang. I have one interested party already so who knows.

Thats interesting, I didnt know you could just change ownership like that of everything, even the website/name I mean.

You know I'm a nurse, Gene. When you get ready to tackle this one give me a holler and I'll help..

Gene...YOU SUCK! Naw just kidding, I completely understand. I am having to deal with that same issue right now. I am getting ready to make a career change and I'm looking at taking a job that requires more traveling or going back to grad. school. Either way, I'm going to have to give some things up...and I don't like it! Good luck in the future and join us when you got the time, your advice and humor are always welcome! :nuts:

Dan,
Montezuma's Reptiles is a registered business name... no different than any other registered business.

You know I'm a nurse, Gene. When you get ready to tackle this one give me a holler and I'll help..
Thanks Lucille... one big thing at a time, the next big change is quitting my job that has been slowly killing me for 8 years to start working for myself.... then the smokes!

You will be missed, Gene. Maybe one day you'll get freed up and get a few of God only knows what will be out then. I went thru the same thing like 10 years ago and just kept a few. It's a tough habit to kick completely. Thank you for all of your enlightening posts.

really. who knows what the future holds for the reptile industry. assuming the mindless unknowing lawmakers dont fack it up.

I hear ya Gene! Keep a nice pair or quad! Take care man!

We never really got to know eachother, but Im glad to say Ive been able to see what you've posted in the forums.
You'll be missed :bow01:

Thanks again yall..

I thought about keeping some but the last thing I want to do is have to make the 20 mile trips into town to pick up over-priced crickets from Petco. I think its just best if I get rid of all of them.
I started taking some pics with the ez tent which Kelli and I discussed on the phone, I am not sure I like the results so I need to redo about 40 geckos worth of pics... here is one of the best pics
