    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I had just about every animal in one of my spare bedrooms. It was getting a little cramped in there and was getting real uncomfortable working with a couple of my larger boas in such a confined space. I picked up the shelving units from Lowes and the AP cages just fit. They were stacked 5 high in the bedroom and that just was not working well. I am 5' 10" and I could barely see into the top cages. Not a good feeling when you are trying to get a pissy boa out...lol

Now everyone is moved into the front room of my house and I have much more room to move about while working. I don't have to go to 3 different rooms to check on everyone now and that in itself makes things much simpler. This also moves my quarantine room that much further away from my collection. That is in yet another spare bedroom that I converted into my office. It is on the opposite end of the house, way away from my collection now.

Now I just need to get the tubs for the spare AP rack that is standing by waiting for those BP eggs in the incubator to hatch in a couple of months.

They are the AP T10 cages, 4x2x15. The only problem with the shelving is it is also 4x2. I could not get all of the side braces on and the few I could I had to attach to the outside. It is stable enough though and I may go back later and put a few lag bolts into some studs to shore it up a bit.
 
Thanks,Ive seen those shelving units and have been toying with the idea on how to incorperate them so it looks nice .Thats also the size cage i want to use.And i was concerned about how tight it would be in the corners.
Its great when people share their set ups . :)
BTW...you need some wall hangings,looks a tad bare there.Otherwise nice efficient set up.
 
It's a bachelor pad now. That's why I could even move them into that room in the first place..lol I don't need any stinking wall hangings, that coat rack is more than enough...lol
 
Also, how do you like those AP cages?Are those fronts slide open ,and how are they heated and lighted?Like i said thats pretty much the same thing i want to do ,except Womas will be going in them. :)

:rofl: Wait till the first woman you have over.Show the same picture in 6 months ,that way well be able to tell if its still a bachelor pad...or not. :rofl:
 
I like the cages alot. They do have the sliding acrylic doors and are heated with heat cable routed in the bottom. I do not have any lights installed in them. The only thing I would do differently is spend the little extra for the glass doors. My large boas have a habit of spilling their water and always do it when I am at work. So they end up swimming in a couple inches of water until I get home. The increased humidity from the water causes the acrylic doors to suck in, giving them a slight bow. The doors still work but they are a bit harder to slide. You won't have that problem with glass doors.

Actually, my girlfriend helped me move all of the cages and set everything up. She was uneasy around snakes when I first met her and now she loves to hold the BP's, especially my albino male. I even got her to hold a 6ft+ female boa yesterday. That was a big leap for her.

Thats half the battle right there.Getting the GF to relax around the snakes.
Show the same picture in 6 months....i bet we see a picture or two,and dare i say mabye even a house plant. :ack2:

My ex-wife was all about fake plants all over the house. Too bad she wasn't all about dusting them. You know how much dust a fake house plant can gather in the desert? It's alot and it doesn't take long...lol
 
Not to side track your thread or anything,but,i was looking at the AP's ,they offer casters for them,could'nt you just stack the a10 on top of each other ?Im sure you thought of that.

oh and eww fake plants,yuck!

I did have them stacked and I just didn't like it. I have a few large boas and I did not like all that weight on top of each other. It also seems to have relieved alot of pressure/tension on the doors and even the bowed ones move a bit more freely now. My experience has also been that casters do not do well on carpet. If all goes as planned though, I will have wood floors in the next year and I will definitely get rid of the shelves then and go with casters. Won't want the shelves ruining the floor and they would much easier to move then. I would also not stack then any higher than 4.
