In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello all, i'm a new one..
Take it easy on me ...

Anyway I've always kept my leos on a sand or calci sand substrate.. For my new baby I am currently trying reptile carpet, was wondering any thoughts or suggestions on it. Is it possible to get impacted by lint? I just want to treat my new woman right ;).
THANKS ALL!

Welcome to the forum, glad your here. :wavey:

You must have been reading awhile...just be carefull.

But you'd better add your full name to your posts .

First of all don't use sand or any other loose substrate for any of your geckos. As for carpet I don't recommend it because it is hard to clean and exspensive to replace. They can also get their claws stuck in the fibers. If you are against paper towels try a stone tile.

I've been using a combination of repti-carpet & slate tile in my tanks for almost 2 yrs now. I use slate tile over the repti-carpet on the warmside. I find the carpet quite easy to care for, I just throw them in the washer with detergent and then run them a 2nd washing with nothing just to be sure they are thoroughly rinsed, then into the dryer (no dryer sheets). Most of the carpets have lasted at least a year, I have 2 for each tank. Oh yeah, and a hand vac works great for spot cleaning :)

You can get them on Reptilesupply.com, 20 gal long size is $3.06/ea., price changes with the size, that is where I buy all mine :) I've also never had a problem with my Leos getting nails caught in it.

I have been keeping Leos for8years now and have seen and know of people that have had geckos get their claws stuck. Especially in reused carpet that breaks down after constant washing.
Also if you are hellbent on carpet buy it at Menards for alot cheaper/stronger material. Last time I checked paper towels cost $1.00 a roll, don't need to be washed with detergent, and you don't have to put gecko fecal matter in your washing machine. :)
One last thing, don't spot clean. If your dog peed and pooped on your carpet would you only clean the poo? Paper towels are the easiest and cleanest way to go.
