    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How quickly after being exposed to a snake with respiratory infection would a healthy snake start showing signs?

I understand. I had one of my snakes in a bag it took it over to a friends house my snake was taken out and his snake wias them in the bag for 4 hours. Its been 4 days and now his snake is showing signs of ourselves infection. unfortunately I didn't realize my snake was sick and now just wondering how fast a RI is able to spread. The two snakes never even had physical contact.

No physical contact is necessary to spread illness...and symptoms don't necessarily mean infection.

Is your snake sick now? If not, why are you making the leap to think your friend's snake got its apparent illness from yours?

because he's claiming that ihis snake is now showing signs of Ri and im wondering if I am to blame? my state does have mucus in the back of the throat and a little bit of bubbles but is still eating and has good tongue flicker.

I don't know your experience level, so don't take offense to this basic info:
Step 1 for respiratory symptoms, quite simply, is to check for (and correct) any husbandry issues - in other words, clean the cage, and make sure temperature and humidity are right. (That doesn't mean assume they are okay because you haven't changed anything.) Most people would recommend raising temps a little, and I don't disagree. You'll probably find 2 different answers on humidity, with most saying to decrease it - that I do disagree with...at least as a generic response. If the humidity was already low (which is very often the case), I believe it should be brought up to normal levels. Too dry conditions can cause all the symptoms of RI. If the humidity was normal (or high), then it depends on the symptoms.

Was your snake showing these symptoms before the bag episode? If it was already bubbling, clicking, or wheezing, then you're probably to blame. If not, which one developed the symptoms first? Such infections can be transmitted before the carrier is symptomatic; and the first to show signs is generally where it started.

Mine definitely showed first I just didnt know if four days was enough time to show symptoms after croosscontamination.
