I purchased a pair of splotched Sinaloan milksnakes from Robert Applegate and I couldn't be happier with the snakes. I ordered the female in October 2014, which he held until good shipping weather this week (April 2015). I ordered the male last month.
The snakes arrived with detailed feeding and shed records handwritten on an index card, with date, food item, and quantity given. The box was well-insulated and the snakes well-contained.
Mr. Applegate does not use Paypal and does not accept credit cards. I sent him two personal checks, which he cashed in a timely manner. His snakes are worth the wait, so don't let this dissuade you from purchasing animals from him. He was also unable to give me photographs of the snakes before I purchased them, but given the relative rarity of splotched Sinaloans, I was okay with this. He also does not check his email daily, but generally gets back to you within 2-3 days of any inquiries. You will probably get a more rapid response if you CALL (not text) him. I'm not sure if he has a cell phone, the number listed on his website could very well be a land line.
If I need any additional colubrids I would not hesitate to do business with Robert Applegate again. I saw some old inquiry threads on Robert Applegate but no dedicated good guy thread (despite the positive comments in the old inquiry thread, which was dated 2004). I also purchased his book, which he kindly autographed. It is a nice summary of kingsnake and milksnake care with nice color plates.
