• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

"ron from KY"

though i never directly called ron a bad guy, i most certainly did infer that, but only AFTER his.. not-so-polite response.

my original post was to inquire if anyone knew a full name, or even e-mail addy of Ron. that way i wouldn't have to avoid every dealer named ron.

one question, though, kelli. i do not mean any offense by this, but i am curious.
if you didn't get back to a customer, at all (which given your reputation i highly doubt you'd ever do), and they posted here about it (and came to the same conclusions about you as i did of ron, unnecessarily) would you react as he did?
now, mind you, i understand that you wouldn't be too happy about it, but would you call me a cry baby and an idiot who needs her bottle so she'll shut up?
i think you're better than that, as are the rest of the good dealers out there.

i'll do my best in the future to be open minded, and wait till i have all the facts before i condemn someone to my 'don't buy from' list.

Just to get my $.02 worth in

Ok, let me first start off by saying I'm not taking sides. Ok, I am..I'll side on "it's not so much trouble to answer email."

I'd just like to point something out on the matter of being too busy to reply to all the emails that come in.

The problem with life getting in the way is a big one. Family obligations, trips out for the weekend, working, going to school and the like are all things -most- people face in the course of a week. Some, like taking the family out to the cottage for the weekend, can result in not having a reply for days.

I, also, have had the experience of contacting the 'big name' breeder only to not get a quick reply. The significant difference is that Ron is the one that elicited the emails. He was the one that posted on ks listing snakes for sale. So saying that sometimes life gets in the way of being able to reply promptly to emails is not relevant here at all. If you're going to post an ad, don't do it at 5pm right before you leave work to go out for the weekend with friends or family. You won't make a good impression.

I'll admit that the post on the BOI was jumping the gun a little, but nothing bad was said about the seller. It was an inquiry. Had the next post been "I apologize if you did not receive a reply, but I tend to get a lot of responses to ads and don't have time to answer them all" all would be well, and the seller's name would still be in the green. Even with a few more posts saying "you suck...you should have written me back" and "then at least have the decency to email me back when I reply to your ad" the seller's reputation would still be very much in the green. But to come on here and start calling people idiots and being childish just goes to show what he thinks of those who don't BUY from him. (If you don't BUY from me, leave me alone!) So, what, as soon as he sells something he doesn't feel it necessary to be courteous to anyone else who replies to his ad?

The good thing about the BOI is that it is based on facts. Ellen stated the facts about not receiving replies. Ron stated facts on how he handles inquiries on the things he has for sale. Now, everybody can decide whether that makes Ellen a problem customer or Ron an unprofessional salesmen.

No one's reputation can be ruined unjustly when only the facts are stated. In other words, if Ron suffers from this post it's only from his doing. And the same can be said of Ellen.

Just my .02 (or $1.21 Canadian).

????

I have spoken with Ron at length at some local shows, and he is always very courteous and helpful. He has very nice animals and obviously takes great pride in their upkeep. Maybe he was having a bad day?

Every animal Ive purchased from ron has been top-notch.I purchased 3.2 greybands from him one of which is fully striped from head to tail though I bought nearly the whole clutch.I learned he had a stripe greyband project going when I inquired about an alterna from someone else and they sent me his way.Everything went smoothly and If I remember right he threw in a free male!!! good guy, great snakes.

I tlooks as though Ron may very well be a nice guy with good animals and good intentions. It also appears that he was not as prompt with his emails as he, and his potential customers, would have liked for him to be. He also reacted rather childishly on this site when those issues were first addressed. Not a bad guy, really, but he could have been more understanding of the frustration his lack of simple courtesy and communication caused.

I guess we all need to view this as a lesson in the necessity of communication. I have failed to respond to emails as quickly as I like, but I do always try to respond in some way. Sometimes, it's not what we do, but what we don't do that leaves the lasting impression on those with whom we almost did business!

I have been dealing with ron for years now Supplying him with feeders for his animals.... ive done sales and a numerious trades with him as well.... ... and there are times when he doesent even call me back right away, but hey we all lead busy lives (i know i do)....
Ron sells alot of stuff right out of the egg so so doesnt have to deal with the hasle with feeding which i understand completly when your dealing with a large collection of mouthes to feed,...he has quality healthy animals and i will continue to due more business with him...
