In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How young can boas be reliably sexed without probing?

I have three babies about a year old and I can't see any difference (of course I could have three females for all I know). I've seen spurs on adults, but these guys are just too small for my aged eyes. Also can't feel any roughness around the vents. Don't want to probe - I'm not skilled and they are SMALL.

Thought I could see a diferent in tail thickness and length when they were neonates, but now they seem to all have caught each other up.

BTW these are Candoia Pacific Boas - semiarboreal, so I'm not really sure whether we belong here or in the regular boa forum - any opinions on that?

Cheers

To be Honest, I would just bring them to a capable vet if you arent sure about probing. and popping... if done wrong could cause one to hurt the animal.

Do you have other reptile keepers in your area that might be able to help you out? Thats always a good way too

Well probing is the only sure way, when they are small you can pop them but the for sure way is to probe...Randy

Unfortunately I'm in a remote spot, so no help from vets or other herp people around - and I'm not about to probe or pop without help.

Not to worry, it's not significant at this stage, I'm referring to them as "Him" and "Her" depending on my mood anyway...

Thanks for the responses.

Intimate photos.....

I have just taken photos of my three 12 - 18 month old baby Fiji boas and woud like opinions as to (their) sex.

I THINK 1 and 2 are showing spurs and therefore are male, while 3 has no spurs and therefore is female, but they are SMALL and 3 is the smallest and youngest, so I'm not 100% certain.

Any opnions? (maybe I should make this a poll ! )

Thanks,
Helen
