    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Our female that we thought was eggbound (obviously isnt anymore) laid the last egg today! BUT...she has lost alot of weight due to holding the last egg 3 weeks longer than the first one, which was laid after about 4 weeks gestation!
And I mean SKINNY!
She was about 48-50 grams when we bred her earlier this year, and was 26 grams yesterday before she laid this egg...so, I dont even want to imagine how much she weighs now. But the good thing is she looks like there is hope...she did pay attention to a mealworm walking by a minute ago, but I think she is still stressed from laying the egg, so ill let her rest for now.

Anyway, time to get more waxworms and pinkies, and cross my fingers!
Although, this girl is a fighter, she has not lost any of her personality through all of this, nor her energy! I think she has it in her :) Im just praying she doesnt become gravid again!

how do you know its the last egg? how many eggs has she laid? seems to me like shes dropping one egg at a time here, seeing as there was 3 weeks between the eggs.

The Last Egg as in the last egg of that clutch. She laid one egg a few weeks ago, but she only JUST laid the other today.. It was all deflated, but that's okay - we're happy that she finally passed it.

It's possible she's gravid again, I suppose, but we're hoping not - that we'll have enough to time to get her weight back up.

yes! thats whats been making it so hard to keep her weight on. She has been gravid most of the time, so we dont have much time to feed her. So hopefully she will eat now that she has no eggs in her belly.

YAY!

I'm glad to hear she laid it without surgery! Has she started eating again yet? You might want to remove her form your gecko room completely for awhile, because the pheromones in the air will stimulate her to ovulate.

huh? you dont feed gravid females? tell me i misread you post! i feed mine at least one pinkie a week. AT LEAST. maybe the reason shes only dropping one egg at a time is your not feeding her enough. they need lots of calcium for egg production.

Yeah, you MAJORLY misread that.

"We don't have much time" as in between the times that a Gravid females refuses to eat. Ya know how at a certain point, they quit eating until they've laid? Well, Kali, the fem this post is about, took that to the extreme. So we're hoping to be able to fatten her up before she quits eating, if she gets gravid enough.

Dude, if we never had time to feed our leos, we wouldn't keep them. We're not irresponsible, and we're not cruel.

one pinky a week (at least? oh my) is way too MUCH anyway. 1 pinky a month is more like it....at least.
And yes, what Dusty stated is what I meant. I wouldnt have been in this business very long if I didnt feed my geckos, please dont knit-pick my posts...it irks me.

Oh yeah, Marcia...thanks for that info, I had no idea the pheromones can cause a female to ovulate! Good info to know.

She hasnt eaten yet, but tomorrow I am getting waxworms and pinkies, hopefully she'll take a pinky, or a few waxworms. We'll see. Wish me luck!

More knit-picking! stop it!

LOL...I suppose so. I felt pregnant...then I felt pregnant ENOUGH near the end. I think she meant that we need to fatten her up before she's gets in the stage of pregnancy that she stops eating.

i never accused you of not feeding your geckos actually. i was accusing you (based on your post) of not feeding your gravid females enough.

i feed my gravid females a pinkie a week. ive never had substantial weight loss or a female dropping only one egg at a time, when i do you can start telling me how to feed my geckos.

Ok, im not going to argue with you about how you feed your geckos, or how I feed mine. I feed mine very well, but things dont always go according to plan, and you get a stubborn female who refuses to eat. Its not a matter of me not feeding my gravid females...its a matter of whether they'll eat or not, and this particular female decided she was going to fast the entire time, resulting in her weight loss.

So before you post an accusation...make sure you are 100% about it. I consider myself a very good breeder, and I take care of my animals, but nothing can be perfect, even the best breeders can tell you about a few animal that have refused to eat.

that sucks. see the way i read your post was that you dont feed a female if shes gravid. a simple misunderstanding.

if someone came on here claiming they dont feed their geckos when they are gravid you would hope someone would tell them that is wrong, right? well in this case thats what i thought you were saying.

maybe the reason shes only dropping one egg at a time is your not feeding her enough. they need lots of calcium for egg production.

see... i was only trying to help. you shouldn't be so deffensive. getting jumped on by people when your only trying to help the person really 'irks' me.

Im sorry I got so defensive. I think we both misread each other's posts. I appreciate your help. Just wanted to clarify that I do try to feed all of my females, regardless of pregnancy or not...its just this one that has refused any and all food so far.

Sorry, once again...and thank you.

~Crystal Light

Another thing. Its not really great hearing people say they think you wouldnt feed your geckos. Ive been around here for awhile, and id atleast hope no one would think of me that way. If you look at my animals, you can clearly see they are beeing fed well.

~Crystal Light

figured id drop by your site and check out your breeders just so i can see for myself.

for the record...

every gecko i looked at on your site has a nice fat tail and looks well fed and healthy.
