    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anybody know how often burmese pythons shed their first year? Mine is about six weeks old, just wondering when to expect a shed...Also there is spot on the top of her head where the scales look damaged, or maybe this is normal for a hatchling? If anybody knows anything about young burmese, just trying to get as much information as I can...or a source for specific information on care of young burmese online...

Sorry - this was posted during a period when I had limited computer access/time. I saved the notification, but forgot about it (just found it while clearing my inbox). The frequency of shedding for burms (and all snakes) is dependent or their rate of growth. The first shed is typically a couple weeks after hatching. After that, it will vary according to size and frequency of feedings. I haven't worked with burms in over 10 years, but I remember their appetites well, lol. A good "average" would be a shed every 4-6 weeks. As they get larger/older, and their growth rate slows, they will shed less frequently.
As for the spot - I don't want to call anything normal or abnormal without having a good idea of what you are dealing with. If you could post a pic, it would be helpful.

I will borrow a camera today and get a pic up. Thanks for the reply. I am trying to be as educated as possible about my new girl. I haven't kept pythons before and I want to take care of her. She is very tame and sweet, has never struck at me, even when I picked her up before I knew she was in shed, but I always warn her by stroking her back with a wand because I read somewhere that burmese are deaf to vibrations...
