• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Site not safe???

I had my internet explorer tell me not to visit fauna due to mailware and viruses can anyone make sense of this ?
I have used this site or some time now with no prob.:(

McAfee is in a silver question on my end (it runs through AT&T) which means they are testing the site. I haven't had any issues with it till today......

I guess someone could maliciously link a banner ad to unfriendly code via the FaunaAds site, but that would be a rather short lived attempt on their part. And certainly either through the URL or their PayPal account used to pay for their account, that information would be turned over to the authorities to track them down for criminal prosecution.

No one can post HTML code (or it's derivatives) within a post exactly for this very reason. There is far too much risk that someone would post malicious code on this site in that manner.

So that only leaves the Google ads, which I doubt would be launching any malicious code.

Personally, I think the spam blocking and such has just gone way too overboard and is causing as much of a problem as the spam itself. There are far too many false positives generated by their algorithms. I know longer trust my emails are getting through to the recipients.

Here's what I got:

Rich,
I sent you a pm. I only know how to save a screen shot in Microsoft Word. I will email you my screen shot. It has my IP address in it so I don't want to post it here. It has the name of the attack and where it came from. When my computer gets an attemted attack, Norton comes on the screen to tell me. I will email it to you. I only know how to save it in Word though. If you can't open Word, if you tell me how to save it and email it that way I will. Thanks

Paste the screenshot in word and then save the document as an HTML doc, upload to Photobucket and then copy the image link (IMG) and paste here.

I dont know if it has any bering on this but a couple days ago McAfee went nutts and deleteled critical windows files and said they were malicious files. The computers were then stuck in a termianl boot cycle. The article I read on MSN was that only users of McAfee corporate edition was effect (it included hospitals, police and actual corporations). Makes me wonder if ya'll are also using McAfee and it is going haywire on your system as well.

My laptop came with McAfee... and the first thing I did was uninstall it. As soon as I saw the icon that was the first thing on the agenda. This was several months ago.

Never mind the pm Rich. Here is the screen shot. I thought my IP address was in it, but it's not. I was either just entering Fauna or changing pages when this happened, I think I was entering.

It appears to me that it has something to do with Google, and not actually any code on this site. I suspect that if it is actually a valid threat and not the virus code mistaking Google's ad code for a virus, Google has been inundated with complaints and shut that link down quickly.

BTW, BitDefender went bonkers on me a while back and I am still suffering issues with my Vista64 system. I'm planning on wiping the OS drive and reloading Vista sometime when I have the time to put into it because of their apparent screwup with a self admitted faulty update release.

But it does seem kind of coincidental that other virus checkers have done the same thing, so I am suspicious of the actual cause. I have also heard that the virus checker used by Embarq did the same thing to many users around the same time my problem took place. Perhaps virus programs have become a new level of attack whereby they use signatures that are so similar to legitimate code that the virus blocking programs themselves then do the dirty work that the virus programs normally do. Pretty ingenious, if true. Not pleasant, but ingenious, nonetheless.

I run Vista, AVG Free, Spybot-Search & Destroy, Spyware Blaster & Ad-Aware, and I've never had any warning about Fauna.
