Post what you are offering or looking for in the TOPIC LINE of the message. There is no reason to require someone to open the message just to read what you have to offer. This is just common courtesy and common sense. People will likely just pass over whatever it is you are offering simply because they won't take the time to open up the message. So why waste your time here?
Put some identification into your message so people know who you are. People are just reluctant to trust someone that the only thing they know about them is [email protected]. Sooner or later it is going to be a requirement that people post their personal name or business name in their classified ads anyway, so you might as well practice at it here.
If you are selling something, put a price tag in the message. Many people will just ignore an ad that says INQUIRE or email for price. You know what you want to get for something, so go on and say so and save everyone a whole lot of unnecessary emails just to find out that info from you. People aren't going to be willing to pay more just because they had to ask you about it.
Be sure what you are selling or buying is legal in all respects. I would love to see guns offered for sale here (because that's what I will be looking for!) but know the laws required when buying and selling them. Anything that is believed to be illegal, poor taste, or in poor judgement, whether I or the moderators are right or wrong, will be removed. Pornographic materials or drug paraphernalia is specifically not to be bought, sold, traded, or offered or sought on this site in any way, shape or form. Once is a mistake, twice is a BIG mistake, and three times you are out.
Check out someone reasonably well before you buy or trade something. Although the BOI is not to be used specifically for dealings in this section, certainly most of the people that will be visiting this forum will be involved in herps in one form of another. It is highy unlikely that someone will register here solely to use this classifieds forum. So they might very well have something about them in there. But I don't want to see an argument blow up in the BOI over a beany baby deal gone bad, and probably no one else does either.
I am offering this section as a public service for all of you whom frequent this site. Abuse it, and you will lose it. This section is not the main focus of this site, but if it gets enough use to warrant it, I certainly will break it up into subcategories to make it easier to navigate. If it becomes a major pain in my butt, then I will simply deep six it with little or no warning.
If and when something sells for you, or you have found what you are looking for, please be considerate enough to delete your ad in here. No sense cluttering up this place nor having people waste their time and yours by contacting you about it any longer.
I am always open for suggestions to try to make this site better for YOU. I can't promise I can do everything that is asked of me, but I will certainly give it some thought and see what I can do.
