• In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.

Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
    Sponsors - Eliminated
Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

On July 1, 2027, all paid memberships will be closed.

On August 1, 2027, FaunaClassifieds will be terminated.

Only change I expect that might take place is when I can get around to figuring out when the amount of money I would have to refund for the yearly paid memberships becomes less than the monthly expense of leasing my server, THAT date might be the termination date for the site.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I just tried out the Gemini code on my new Samsung phone and asked what it could tell me about FaunaClassifieds.com. Results were interesting.

FaunaClassifieds.com appears to have been a website for buying, selling, and discussing reptiles and possibly other animals. However, based on recent discussions in online forums, the website seems to be experiencing significant issues and may no longer be reliably functioning. Here's a summary of what can be gathered
  • Past Functionality: It was known as a platform for reptile enthusiasts, breeders, and hobbyists to connect, buy, sell, and discuss various species. It was considered one of the older and larger platforms in this niche.
  • Current Status Issues: Reports from early 2025 indicate that the website encountered serious problems, possibly due to server transfers and technical difficulties. Some users mention that a significant portion of the website's code base was corrupted during this process.
  • Concerns about Functionality: As of early 2025, the website's functionality, particularly the "Board of Inquiry" (BOI) section which was actively used for discussions and potentially raising concerns about sellers, was impacted. There were discussions about the owner potentially trying to charge for access to this section.
  • User Sentiment: Many long-time users express disappointment and a sense of loss over the website's decline, as it held a significant amount of historical data and connected many established breeders who may not be active on social media.
  • Scam Concerns: Like many online classified platforms, there were always some concerns about potential scams on FaunaClassifieds. Users were generally advised to exercise caution, research sellers, look for feedback, and avoid untraceable payment methods. Some users have mentioned moving away from the platform due to the prevalence of scammers.
  • Alternatives: Users are now looking towards other platforms like MorphMarket and community forums for buying, selling, and discussing reptiles.
In summary, while FaunaClassifieds.com was once a significant platform for the reptile community, it seems to have faced serious technical and administrative issues in early 2025, leading to concerns about its current functionality and reliability. If you are looking to buy or sell animals, especially reptiles, it would be wise to explore alternative, actively maintained platforms with established reputations and safety measures.

Site corruption? Technical and administrative issues? Functionality and reliability?

Are people having problems with this new platform here?

That Gemini thing cobbles together a bunch of junk at times. Not to weigh in either way, but a number of "AI" agents and integrated widgets compose inaccurate summaries for me.

Well apparently no one is having a problem with this site, so no news is good news.
